Whatever the reason or wherever it takes place, a hangover is internationally known, called “la gueule de bois,” or" wooden mouth by the french","kater" or "tomcat" by the germans and it is also known to the japanese as "futsukayoi" or "2 days drunk".

But whatever it is called in any language, a hangover displays all or some of the following symptoms:

1.Headache

2.Nausea

3.Blurred vision

4.Shaking

5.Dryness in the mouth

Historically, hangover cures are as diverse as the people that comprise cultures around the world. The ancient Assyrians battled the painful effects of a hangover with a concoction of ground up bird's beaks and a dash of myrrh. In Roman times,Philsophers like Pliny the elder, swore that by consuming raw owl's eggs, the ill effects of overindulgence in wine will be banished. In Elizabethan England, eels drowned in wine was said to do the trick. But if eels are in short supply, green frogs were an acceptable substitute. In the 19th century, chimney sweepers with massive hangovers would sip warm milk with a teaspoon of soot.

My fixes

In this era of internet connectivity a lot of hangover fixes, ranging from fried food and the proverbial hair of the dog to really expensive medication derived from plant extracts, can be had with a click of the mouse.

From aspirin to bananas and water, Internet searches show endless options for preventing or treating alcohol hangovers. Now for the people who overindulge, waking up to a throbbing head and a mouth like a the driest desert, the myriad choices seems like to be a life-saver—as long as they overlook the fact that these “cures” are bouyed up more by hope and wishful thinking than being scientifically proven to work as there is no evidence that gives support to cures or any effective means of preventing hangover.

But for me and my friends, countless hangovers were cured by making and then consuming the recipes listed below:

This recipe is very effective in settling an upset stomach and the warm soup does the trick in lessening the pounding headache that I get with a hangover.

SUREFIRE CURES?

Medical experts say that there is no surefire remedy to prevent or cure hangovers, they conclude that a hangover is just a too simple word to describe a very complex thing.

Hangovers comprises of symptoms that affect different parts of the body all at the same time and these symptoms vary from person to person. Thats the reason why no cures have been found to effectively fix the problem.

One sure thing though will prevent you from having a HANGOVER: do not drink or drink only in moderation and to avoid dehydration and upset stomach, drink plenty of water and eat some food.
