What is the Best Protein Powder?

Finding the Best Protein Powder is almost a struggle for most of us. There are TONS of companies out there claiming to have the Best Protein Powder Blend. If you know me at all you know that I like to cut through the crap and buy only the essentials when it comes to my supplements. I don't like fillers and I'm not a big fan of Proprietary Blends. So here are my picks for some of the Best Protein Powders that may provide the best bang for your buck.

Best Protein Powder by All The Whey: Protein Hydrolysate

This Stuff is the Cadillac of Whey Proteins.  Concidered as the Best Protein Powder for its quality and absorption, Protein Hydrolysate has a Bioligical Value of around 159 and has the highest availability of Amino Acids 3 HOURS AFTER CONSUMPTION!  This stuff is awesome except....its expensive (of course).  Some places have this listed at around $100.00 for a 5 lb tub!  That's ALOT!  But ol' Dorian at All The Whey provides a 10 lb refill for around $107.26 (53.63 for 5 lbs).  Still pretty pricey, but worth the extra 20% reported muscle increase when used 3 times a day.  The powder “cakes up” much more in protein drinks and reports say it tastes almost like “plastic”…”2 Stars” on the flavor rating.  So was it worth the dough?  My humble opinion says no.  Maybe if being a bodybuilder was my primary source of income, but its not.  I would recommend Protein Isolate with an extra shot of BCAA's from Purebulk.com

-Comes in 10, 15, 20, 25, or 50 lb refill

-23g of protein

-Long lasting Amino Acid Profile

-1g Total Carbs

-Mixing is questionable

When is the Best time to take Protein?

Best Protein Powder by All The Whey: Protein Isolate

Whey protein Isolate is probably the best all around protein powder that can fit the physical needs of most of the general population of bodybuilders and athletes alike.  It has a Biological Value of between 110-114 (which is very good).  The problem most of the time with this type of protien is the price.  If you do a search for "Protein Isolate" at GNC, they have a 3 lb tub that goes for around $47.99.  Thats the GOLD CARD price, mind you!  The fact is these  supplements are really very affordable when you cut out the special blend crap.  All The Whey has their Best Protein Powder in a 5 lb refill that goes for around $45.48.  Less "fluff" and more "stuff".  Although it may not be the cheapest one I buy (and I like to buy cheap) I like to use it when I feel like "treating" myself to something nice.

"All The Whey quality is 100% assured. Every product is taste tested in our laboratory, and approved by a taste-test panel before being sold. Whether the product line has been designed specifically for a bariatric patient, an athlete, a senior, women, or body builder, the same rigorous standard applies: only the highest quality ingredients are used; only the purist products are acceptable. We feel it's this matchless quality standard, that allows All The Whey to shine, and we proudly offer our superior line of supplements to every customer looking to improve health or fitness."

-Comes in a tub or refill

-25g high quality protein isolate

-Impressive Amino Acid profile

-1g Total Carbs

-Mixes Easily

Best Protein Powder by EAS: 100% Whey Protein

We all know that Bill Phillips has come out with some pretty cool (and not so cool) stuff.  One thing he put out that I really liked was the EAS 100% Whey Protein.  It may not be the Best Protein Powder as far as quality goes, but its pretty far up there.  Still carying a Biological Value of 104 (4 points above eggs)  it has a pretty easy blend of whey concentrate and whey isolate.  This stuff mixes pretty easy as well, not like some of those "other" proteins that leave you thinking you are drinking cement mix with a hint of rocks.  The vanilla flavor is the one I like, the chocolate just don't taste like chocolate, and for the price, around $29.87 for a 5 lb BAG at any Sam's Club, the quality to value ratio is just right.  Pretty simple stuff, no nonsense, and works as a post workout or anytime protein fix.
This is the one I usually buy.

"Protein is one of the fuels that help make athletes go. So to help support peak performance and optimal muscle growth, the protein you put in your body needs to be pure, of the highest quality, and from a company you can trust. What you need is great-tasting EAS 100% Whey Protein."

-Easy open resealable pouch

-23g high quality protein

-Concentrated BCAAs to support muscle recovery and growth

-3g Total Carbs

-Mixes easily"
