Aside from making New Years' resolutions, keeping our reading list up to date can be the best way to say good-bye to the old year. Here are some of the self-help books that 2007 brought us. Perhaps you've already read most of them and have decided to make the principles that you've gleaned part of your new year. Or, perhaps you'd like to catch up and find out what you've missed last 2007.

Empowerment

Gene N. Landrum

Written by Gene Landrum, the founder of the Chuck E. Cheese Restaurant chain and the co-founder of Atari Computer, "Empowerment: The Competitive Edge In Sports, Business & Life" is a compilation of profiles of successful entrepreneurs and athletes. Not only does it showcase the accomplishments of well-known athletes like Babe Ruth, Wayne Gretzyky, Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan, it also emphasizes the behaviors and attitudes that helped these people achieve their goals. It also contains 13 self-assessments that will encourage readers to question their own behaviors as well as motivate them to apply these winning behaviors in their daily lives.

Time Keepers

Pam Bertagnolli

Created for the enjoyment of people over 60, Time Keepers resembles a journal that provides a page for each day of the year. In each of these pages, you can find inspirational quotes as well as spaces where you can write down appointments and special occasions. Each page, also contains a challenge that the owner must perform each day. Another great thing about this book is that it can be kept as a memento at the end of the year. Designed to keep 60-year-olds active, this is the perfect gift for any senior citizen.

Wake Up Inspired

Marian Baker

Written by a master certified coach, Wake Up Inspired can be the best eye opener for women who are stuck in their dreams and need to be awakened and pushed to make them real. By encouraging the readers to assess their investments properly as well as the crowd that they are with, this book teaches women to take the positive steps that will lead them to their dreams.

Seeking Self

Stephan McLaughlin, Jr.

Seeking Self is written by an active member of the Mankind Project as well as the organization called Heal. In this self-help book, one can read about the five ways of nurturing healthy relationships. Because it is geared towards a person's self-discovery as well as the extension of his awareness, this book can help a person discover unexpressed hidden emotions and empowerment. This is a great book for people who are confused and are having a hard time finding their way.

How To Self-Destruct

Jason Philip Seiden

How To Self-Destruct is an ingenious creation that spells out the meaning of reverse psychology. In this book, you won't find an author who would not offer you a guide that will make your life better. Instead, he will give you a detailed instruction of how you could ruin it. If you are one of those people who have gotten tired of the concept of positive thinking and the way most self-help books have become very predictable in the way they guide people to empowerment then this is the perfect book for you.
