Top 25 Cities for Jobs and Business in America
77
These America cities for great business are not the ones expected by many people.. They aren't on the glamorous coasts and are not the biggest cities. In fact, many are in the Southeast, including Atlanta, ranked as the best over all city for American business. Regions that consistently produce new jobs in a broad range of industries rank at the top of the list. During this George Bush Administration, the best cities are predominantly suburban and, perhaps most importantly, relatively affordable in housing prices, cost of living, and business costs. Younger families, well-educated people, upwardly mobile immigrants, and even singles, are migrating to these cities fast.
THE 25 BEST LARGE CITIES
Number 1. Atlanta. "Hotlanta" is the hottest economy of America. Hit hard by the 2000 recession, the sprawling Greater Atlanta Area is back, on the foundation of a strong service sector, pro-business climate, and affordable housing. Spread out over 28 counties in north-central Georgia, the Greater Atlanta Area includes over 4.5 million people. It has top universities, major corporate HQs, and a world-class airport. Atlanta has one of the most diversified economies in the country. Atlanta's cost of living, particularly housing, is lower than in places like Boston, New York City, Seattle, or San Francisco. Atlanta may lack some of the Bay Area's edginess and beauty but presents many lifestyle options. Atlanta's airport and history of logistics expertise provide logistical support for the chemical industry globally.
The Inland Empire of California. Here the best city is 2. Riverside-San Bernardino -- 3 million people just east of Los Angeles. Its major industries are housing construction, warehousing, and diversified manufacturing. Over 660,000 people have moved into the inland. The bulk of this growth comes from ethnic minorities, predominantly Latinos (+500,000) and Asians. Ramon Alvarez, is the owner of the nation's only Latino-owned Jaguar dealership, in Riverside, Calif.
3. Las Vegas At first hurt by the downturn in tourism after 9/11, the Nevada metropolis has gotten its groove back. Although tourism remains the linchpin, the area is creating jobs in high-end sectors and even manufacturing, in large part because of an exodus from more expensive locales on the Western Seaboard.
4. San Antonio Largely unnoticed amidst the mega-hype surrounding media favorite Austin, this more affordable Texas city has benefited from steady population growth, a diversifying economy, and a strong military presence.

Thank you for yoru observations, ondo1015. I must read more about the Philipines and wish your country the very best!
Someone asked how to come to America and get a job. I think it was a person working for an electrical company in UAE.
You will need a sponsor from a company that wants to hire you here in the USA. Tell your Human Resources department in your own company at home, and your supervisor, that you want to come to USA to work. Ask them to make contacts for you with an electrical companies they deal with in USA. If they have none, see en employment recruiter in your city and ask them to help you gain sponsorship and work in the USA. I do resumes for people moving from UAE to America and back and forth, so I know there are such recruiters and that some compaines in UAE will help.
Best of success to you!
There is no job growth in Las Vegas right now, they are laying off and I along with alot of other people are looking for work with no success, I have been out of work for 5 months now and I have applied at almost every casino in the valley, and I have alot of experience behind me. This article needs to be updated, the reason why the employment stats look good is because when people get laid off they are rehireable when business picks up again.
There IS job growth, since I know several people that have gone to Las Vegas and been employed right away in healthcare. Stop applying at casinos and go into a line of work that is hiring. If you need re-training, go to the county employment services department. Take action instead of complaining.
I am not complaing I have applied for several different types of jobs, like childcare, gas stations etc....And I am certainly not alone, I live here I know.
Go to the Clark County Department of Labor Job-search and Placement Services and keep after them until they get you a job. You may qualify for training funds. See the link is below. When I was laid off form a job after 10 years, I went to my county office and did not leave without answers and help. I think that is the place to make yourself visible and persistently vocal.

Nevada Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation2800 E. St. Louis Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89104500 East Third Street - Carson City, NV 89713General Info: (775) 684-3849 - FAX: (775) 684-3850 - TTY: (775) 687-5353
Go to the Human Services Office to help with rent, and food and even transportation out of the county if youhave to move to find work. They advertise plane fare, bus fare, and gaaoline help. The anount of help they can give depends on how much is left in their yearly allowance from the state and federal govt.

Wow! Thanks! Here's a big hug from me! O
I don't know about these kinds of places because I always worked my whole life.
I will definately pass this information along aswell.
Anytime you are in the Vegas area give me a ring.
I really hope this works for you; and, they can provide even more referrals. The next time I come to Vegas, I will surely let you know.
Most definately!!!! Great!!! Thanks!!!!!!
Best success. Please let us know how the job hunt goes! :)
Love the hub! I was happy to see that my area made the list of best large cities (#20!), but I'm confused as "Northern Virginia" isn't a city...
Northern Virginia is becoming a sort of mega-plex, larger than a single city's Metro-plex area [like teh icnreasing joining of Dayton and Cincinnati in Ohio]. It encompases all the major cities in the northern part of Virginia. Taken together, they comprise #20 and there is a growing commuting group of workers living in one and working an other.
Thanks for the clarification.
And yes, it seems as if a good majority of people here commute to jobs in or close to Washington D.C. In fact, there are people commuting 2+ hours from West Virginia to D.C.
That's amazing, all the way from West Virginia. Working is certainly different that way in te 21st century. Super-highspeed rail systems might help, if there were funding for them and people could use them frequently.
Very interesting info! Thanks!

It's been good to your country that you have growing cities, I wonder when mill be the Philippines Cities grow fast as they are on it's own feet standing and walking like a turtle.
Well, I hope that our country give a clean system to all service. And move fast forward for we are behind to our neughboring countries.
That is what I only ask for my political leaders, work clean , faster, and give what each every citizen needs in order to help their fellow countrymen too.
