Preschool Age Website

Hands down, if you ask my three year old what her favorite website is she will say noggin.  My dad actually introduced her to this site about a year ago and she caught on remarkably fast.  We all sat around watching a two year old use a mouse and navigate the site with more ease than most baby boomers.  From a parent's view, the site has a lot of educational merit.  There are games dealing with memory, phonics, vocabulary, numbers, letters, rhyming, basic math, patterns, and stories.  She also likes the disney site, but I don't think it's as educational.

Elementary School Age Website

When I taught, I liked the Yahooligans website the best for my students.  There is a lot of research to be had on this site as well as some fun games.  There is also a parent and teacher resource guide. Other sites, like MSN Kids, Scholastic, and Discovery Kids seem to have more games, video and puzzles.  Yahooligans is a better site for school projects and learning. Check it out if you have kids in elementary school.

High School Age Website

This is the area I am the least familiar with, so if you have any insight about this area, please feel free to comment.  From what I see, I like the MSN Encarta website for high school age students. Unfortunately, MSN tries to sell you some of their products on this site instead of giving  them to you for free.  MSN offers basics like an encyclopedia, dictionary, thesaurus, world atlas, and multimedia. In the encyclopedia section they had a few great references:  literature guides, archives (once again, you might need to subscribe to view some of the articles), historic speeches and documents, and great homework starters. Yahoo has an Education site as well.  There are basics like an English and Spanish dictionary, thesaurus, world facts, homework help, and anatomy. There is also help in researching colleges, degrees, course work, and grad programs.  It's too bad myspace doesn't offer an educational catch, I guess it wouldn't be so popular if it did.

With over 27 million online articles and content growing daily, AccessMyLibrary.com is the single largest source of free information from the most credible & trusted content publishers in the world.
