Beta Fish Care is Generally Simple. Here's what to do:

1. Make sure you have a good home for the fish. A bowl with 1.5 gallons of water is perfect for a single betta.
2. Place the bowl in a good location (away from a heater or cooler, away from the windows, etc.). Keep the water cool (between 65 and 75 degrees Farenheit).
3. Bettas breath air. Thats why you don't need an aeration system in your fish bowl. The key is to keep their water clean and at a good temperature.
4. Only place one betta in your bowl. Remember their other name? (Fighting Fish!). Put two male bettas in a bowl, and you'll end up with one. Put a male and a female betta in a bowl, and you'll end up with one. So, just start with one in the first place, and avoid the inevitable fighting!
5. Change the water in the bowl when it starts to get slightly cloudy. Usually, once a week is enough.
6. Feed your Betta Fish on the schedule your pet store told you. (usually once or twice a day). Your pet store will provide you with appropriate betta food (freeze dried blood worms are popular).
7. That's it! Clean water. Good food. One betta per bowl.
