Better in College than Highschool

College vs. Highschool
In the last few days I've discovered something, and that is that I am a lot better at College than I was at high school. It's a crazy thought I know, but in this hub I will explain why I think this about myself and how others maybe the same way.
You see when I was in High School, it was all about the social life for me. I didn't care about the grades or how it was going to effect me later, I just wanted to have fun and hangout with friends. I was constantly behind on my homework projects and etc. I became behind on credits and eventually got sent over to a continuation school.
While there I was able to catch up on credits, and it was a lot more laid back, just how I wanted my life style to be. Of course I graduated High School, and had no intetion to attend college, man wasn't life great. I had a job at a pizza joint at the time, and a few years later went to work for a hotel.
It was at the hotel I realized, I didn't want this life for me. I was tired of waking up everyday and having the same routine, and getting yelled at by rude people. And most of just dreading going to work everyday.
So I decided to go to college and major in Journalism, and apply it to another major passion in my life, which is skateboarding. Since I've started attending college this year I have noticed a vast improvement in my schooling. At the end of this last semi-ester I passed my class with an A. That was the first time in my life that I have ever done that and I couldn't be more proud.
Now the reason I think that I, and probably why other people, have done better in college than they did in high school is because they for one have more freedom. You can now choose the classes that you want, and you have a goal and career that you are working towards, and of course now your paying for it most likely and don't want to waste your money.
To where as highschool its like all the boring subjects, you don't get to pick your schedule, and your really not going for your career. But there is an upside to doing well in highschool, and that is getting into some good colleges, which I to never thought about in highschool, so now I have to go to a community college before I can actually go to a University.
I hope with everyone reading this hub, you've have seen the differences in College vs. High School, and why I think most people end up doing better once they reach college. I hope it also encourages more people to go to college and start a career, in my opinion it is one of the best things that people can do in life. And if you don't decide to go to college, I am sure there is ways to get a great career, so just stay focused and have goals, and with or without college, make your life fun and enjoyable!

Glad you are enjoying your further education!
Choice in secondary schools varies in different countries, though. In the UK, I got to choose 8 - 10 GCSE subjects which I studied from 14 to 15, and then 3 A level subjects for 16 to 18.
For GCSE, you had to have some balance - at least one language, one science, one practical subject, etc, but you could do mostly what interested you. And for A level, you could do anything you liked. I found I enjoyed school more as it went on, and particularly A level, where I was only studying subjects I'd chosen (in my case, English Lit, History, and Geography).
