Beware of Online Money Makers

Beware of online money makers, "get rich quick" schemes, work-from-home programs, etc. that you might find circulating the web. Some of them may be scams, even ones that might say they're not scams, and they all seemingly promise huge returns with little to no investment. Be cautious, because appearances can be deceiving.

Every one of these types of websites are different, but most of them follow the same general idea. If you've been drawn into one of these schemes before, then you probably know what I'm talking about. The layout is designed to make their "product" seem like liquid gold. They dress it up all pretty and glamorous until you are fool enough to buy in. That's because they excel at misleading people. It's legal for them to say you can make $500 an hour if their program has been proven at one point in time to produce those type of results. Though what they neglect to mention is that it requires a substantial investment of your money and time. This may work for some highly motivated people who want to take that risk of loosing their investment, but for the average Joe it's just not feasible and that's when it turns into a scam.

Since these companies like to make a profit for themselves, they generally charge an outrageous fee after you sign up and most people are usually unaware of this because the fees, or the actual price to use their product/service, is generally "hidden" from view. This causes most people think that they are getting something either for free, e.g. free-trials, or for very cheap, and unless you read the fine print or the "terms and conditions", then you may not realize that you're going to be charged more on a later date. Some of them could also be subscription based where they can charge your credit card each month. If you get caught in this type of situation, contact the company right away and tell them you want to cancel your trial and/or subscription then ask for a confirmation number. If you cancel before the end of your trial period, then your credit card shouldn't get charged.

In conclusion, just be wary of what you may be getting into because these types of websites are designed to be misleading. I've seen one recently that was designed as a news article with comments, etc. to make it look trustworthy, but it was all fake because you couldn't click to make comments or navigate to other areas of the newspaper's website, you could only click on the link to sign up. This isn't to say that every money making program on the web is a scam, there may be some out there that have integrity and don't mislead people, but it's really up to you to be that judge. Best of luck.
