Noonan, Murphy trash Palin on hot mike: 'It's over'

First President Bush calls a respected reporter "a reall asshole" and now Republican supporters tell us that McCain's choice of Palin is "real bullshit".

According to a news report on Politico.com, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live mike ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.

Here is the transcript as reported by politico.com

It's over," said Noonan, who then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.

"The most qualified? No. I think they went for this - excuse me - political bullsh** about narratives," she said. "Every time Republicans do that ... because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at and they blow it."

Murphy chimed in:

"The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical."

Noonan's blunt call contrasted with her conflicted column today saying Palin "could become a transformative political presence."

Oddly enough I'm sorta apolitical! I do however find politics great fodder for laughs so I tune in a little. I personally believe Rue Paul would make a great president although I'm not sure America is ready for a Drag Queen president-lol Someday please write a blog on how you get those videos on your hubpages. Plus how you post the book titles. You seem to have all that down pretty pat!

Well, if we can't laugh at ourselves, then what good are we?  Is Rue Paul still around?  I don't know many drag queens but if I remember did R.P have a tv show some years back?  Gritty stuff!

As for adding YouTube, GodTube and others, first find their website, and be prepared to copy & paste their http address.  On your edit hub page you can add video and links an polls and a lot of other goodies to your hub.  You can only do that on the edit page, though.  there's a small sidebox on the right hand side with rectangular boxes that show words such as TEXT or PHOTO in them.  You can click and drag these up and down to change the order in which they will appear on your finished hub page.

Once move the video up and down in sequence it will appear on the page and click REORDER they should go on the left hand side of the page right where you want them.  However, sometimes you might have to move another rectangle down rather than move the chosen rectangle up.  It's odd, and the COMMENTS rectangle seems to work in an opposite manner from other additions.  I find it difficult sometimes to move the comments box, so I just move the rectangle I want to move either above it or below it.  If your computer works the same way mine does, this past paragraph will make sense to you.

Storytellersrus - yes, those gimmicks are all around us now!  On the street where my son lives there is a police video cam with directional sound mics, so they can tell which direction a suspected gunshot came from.

Other people believe it is simply to catch suspicious conversations on the street.  Oh, well, Big Brother is either Watching Us or Watching Out For Us, and I don't know which I can believe!

Gosh, if only the pundits were always willing to speak their minds so freely! Think of how much more interesting political coverage would be without all the mindless, insincere pandering.

Great post!

Good reporters are objective reporters, but the objectivity does not extend to their personal lives. When a reporter writes a news story or makes a TV appearance in his role as reporter, it's important to report the facts objectively. But the reporter is free to speak his mind in a private, personal conversation. Television reporters should be saavy enough to know when the mike is hot and when it's not. Because a reporter has a personal opinion one way or another, should not be interpreted to mean the reporter is biased -- unless bias appears in the reporters work. Not only reporters and pundits drop the ball and get caught on a hot mike, but politicians -- like Bush and McCain, and many others, -- also drop the ball now and then.

Personally, I do not think much of Palin, but the media clearly loves/hates her. McCain and the GOP is now all over the news - there's no escaping! In this sense, McCain made the right choice.

Will Republicans see through this transparent ruse? Of course not, they're eating it up.

William, the woman is a reporter, but the man is a Republican consultant, and he's in a much different catagory as far as I am concerned. Still, I know the open mic is a dangerous thing, thus my title. It's kind of like people who remain blissfully unaware of instant video, YouTube and all the other places where "macaca reporters" can post their stuff - to quote that weird Virginia candidate's usage of words he didn;t really understand.

CW, she certainly seems to have captured the news away from Obama, and I think McCain wanted that to happen. Shrewd, to say the least, but will it backfire on him? I remember Thomas Eagleton and how he was forced off the ticket with McGovern due to secrets about his mental health. Today it probably wouldn't be as ruinous, but it was back then.

If Palin has some unwanted baggage, will she survive the heat? I have to wonder.

I also wonder if FOX News will mistake Palin and Putin as much as they "accidentally" misspoke Obama and Osama??????
