Many bicycle racers believe that the toughest bicycle race in the world is the Race Across America or RAAM as it is also known as. Others believe that the toughest bicycle race is one of the fabled Le Grand Tour races including the Tour de France which is acknowledged by most racers as being the ultimate in bicycle racing on this planet. What distinguishes the toughest bicycle race from the others is that the former is far removed from the race-around-the-park kinds of bicycle races. However, no one will deny that the Tour de France is in fact one of the most eagerly anticipated of all bicycle races on this planet.

Tour De France Or RAAM?

The only question that remains unanswered is whether the Tour de France is tougher than the Race Across America. Given the fact that RAAM road race involves, for the most part, amateur riders it could be said that this race is tougher than the Tour de France simply because racers participating in the RAAM race will need to finance themselves when taking part in the race.
