Biggest Loser Season 7 Winner Helen Phillips

Did she go too far?

When Helen Phillips started at the Biggest Loser Ranch, she weighed in at 257 Pounds. She looked extremely unhealthy and was nearly at her end emotionally.

Through 16 weeks of competition she was a machine, losing pound after pound and never really fearing elimination. While she did not have the fortitude to win lots of challenges like her co-finalist Tara did, she did well through the competition and ended up winning.

The real question though, is did she go too far?

At the end of the contestants time at the "Ranch", Helen looked great. She weighed in at an incredible 140 pounds, 117 pounds below her starting weight. She looked healthy, her body was lean and toned. It looked as if she had been exercising for years and was an athlete. Her skin pigmentation wasn't as sickly pasty as when she first started out and her body was in great shape.

Apparently that was not enough.

After leaving the Ranch, the contestants go home until the live season finale which ends up being 5 weeks later. At home they are faced with different challenges: Family, Kids, Jobs, New Trainers....etc... And have the opportunity to gain or lose weight on their own.

Personally I believe that Helen chose the wrong trainer(s) once she went home. Based on the picture in this Hub, you can see they didn't work out her upper body at all. Her neck and her arms have more excess skin than if they were toned properly. She looks almost unhealthy again and thanks to this drastic drop from 140 to 117 (her final weight), she wins $250,000.

It makes viewers wonder if she intentionally told her trainers to just work her out in certain areas to make her drop pounds. At the Ranch she looked much healthier and stayed in a safe weight loss pattern that seems to have been lost when she went home.

Hopefully this extensive weight loss will not affect her mentally, but she definitely needs to work out her upper body much more now that she's won.

I wonder what my fellow Hubbers think about her drastic weight loss and how she looked at the finale?

Yea no duh!

It is a contest that rewards the person who loses the most weight. No reason to add muscle and lose the contest.

If they want it to be healthy they need to change it to who improves the most by bodyfat but there really isn't a fair way to measure that.

I was shocked when she came out. She was wayy too skinny and it didn't look good on her. I thought she looked amazing on the last weigh in on the ranch. I guess she did what she needed to to win though.I wanted Tara to win!! She looked gorgeous!!!

I also miss the way they did it a few seasons ago when it wasn't just percentage of weight loss, but it also counted body fat. That would be a much better way of deciding the winner.
