Bike Racks For Cars

Shopping online for Bike Racks For Cars might be a useful option but it can be very confusing because there is such a huge amount of information. This article will show you the types of bike racks for your cars and help you choosing one thats suitable for you and your vehicle.

Trunk Mount Bike Rack

If you don't have a hitch receiver and want a bike rack thats  as easy to get on as it is to get off, then then the trunk mount is a great option. Be careful to select a bike rack according to the model of car you have, because certain racks are compatible with specific car types. People who have a car (not a SUV) and who are looking for a 1 or 2 or 3 bike rack carrier usually go for this option. The rack attaches to the back bumper and around the sides of the car.

The problem could be a safety issue because this bike rack is so easy to get on, its easy for a thief to quickly take it off along with your bikes. There are ways of overcoming this problem but it might cost you a bit more.

Hitch Mount Bike Rack

This bicycle carrier is the best option for vehicles with a hitch receiver and if you are more than likely going to be on some rough roads. It is secure and the best when it comes to stability.

Truck Mount Bike Rack

This is more like a bike holder and is a little bar that is fitted into the back of a truck. Easy to install and put your bikes on. Also well protected from any flying rocks that could chip your bike if it were on the tow hitch.

Spare Tire Mount Carriers

Up to 2 bikes can fit on this type of carrier. Some people complain of stability issues so if you will be traveling on rough terrain then look for the next best bike rack type.

Roof Top Bike Rack

This bike rack sits atop the car. Most people choose this option because space is an issue and they need access to the trunk of their vehicle. Most pro's use this bike rack because they like to carry extra bikes and don't need to travel long distances or very far. The one huge bad point about this bike rack is that you will find your car chews that much more gas because of the wind resistance. You might find yourself being tugged at by the wind on a windy day too!

Don't Make This Mistake!

I hate to admit what I did, but I made the mistake of getting the wrong  Bike Racks For Cars. Save yourself some time and make sure you do thorough research.
