My Bike Rebuild Project.

I love to rebuild Motorcycles and cars in the past I've rebuilt a Landrover Defender and various motorcycles.

Last week I bought a new road bike and was thinking about what to do with my old mountain bike. I decided to rebuild the bike and document the project here.

The bike is currently a Claude Butler Alpina god knows what it will be when I finish it.

My intial thoughts are to upgrade the suspension, Crank, and Gearing Repaint it and then look at other alternatives.

Current Spec Includes :

Chilli Works front suspension

Shimano Acera Gearing

7005 Aluminium Frame.

Vuelta Wheels

I would really appreciate any comments or suggestions.. Thanks

The strip down

It took less than 2 hours to completly strip the bike down to the frame.

There is only one problem that i have and that is I can't remove the Cassette from the rear wheel. Strangly the tool that i have that removes all the other shimano hubs doesn't work on this hub.

I won't be reusing it so i may have to resort to brute force.

I am looking to replace all the drive train with decent qualiry shimano 9 speed components which will lower the gearing to 22/34 rather than the current 22/28. I should then be able to tackle most of the mountain trails around here.

I am looking for new front forks and once i have sorted the drive train that will be my next job.

The next think on my list for today is to clean up the frame and remove all the stickers.
