This title could be possible on September 10th

The experiment going on the borders of France where lies a 27 Kilometer long particle accelerator which was just waiting for its temperature to go down till 1.9 K (-271.2C) is set to start its experiment that could lead our world to either on the top of the Science World or on the bottom of an unknown darkness.

Yes we are talking about the Large Hadron Collider, a particle accelerator, that has been created since 1998, is about to be switched on 10th of September and what scientist believe this will create many tiny blackholes in the process of accelerating particles. This may also lead us to the base of time-travel and time machine, but the thing that is sure to happen is we will come closer to God, yes i.e. even if we die we will get close to God and if we are able to understand the Big Bang theory then also we will step one step closer to God.

When activated, it is theorized that the collider will produce the elusive Higgs boson, the observation of which could confirm the predictions and "missing links" in the Standard Model of physics and could explain how other elementary particles acquire properties such as mass. The verification of the existence of the Higgs boson would be a significant step in the search for a Grand Unified Theory, which seeks to unify three of the four known fundamental forces: electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force, leaving out only gravity. The Higgs boson may also help to explain why gravitation is so weak compared to the other three forces. In addition to the Higgs boson, other theorized particles, models and states might be produced, and for some searches are planned, including supersymmetric particles, compositeness (technicolor), extra dimensions, strangelets, micro black holes and magnetic monopoles

The Large Hadron Collider has been featured in a number of novels, including Flashforward by Robert J. Sawyer, Black Hole, by Angelo Paratico, and Decipher by Stel Pavlou, which described it in some detail. One of the most visible examples is Angels & Demons by Dan Brown, which involves dangerous antimatter created at the LHC used as a weapon against the Vatican. CERN published a "Fact or Fiction?" page discussing the accuracy of the book's portrayal of the LHC, CERN, and particle physics in general. The movie version of the book had footage filmed on-site at one of the experiments at the LHC; the director, Ron Howard, also met with CERN experts in an effort to make the science in the story more accurate. BBC4 Radio will be broadcasting "Big Bang Day" on 10 September 2008 to coincide with LHC being switched on. Included in this event will be a radio episode of the BBC show Torchwood with a plot surrounding the LHC. Katherine McAlpine, aka "alpinekat", a science writer working at CERN, wrote the lyrics for a personal rap video about the LHC called the "The Large Hadron Rap". The song was added to YouTube on July 28, 2008, and, as of August 27, it had been viewed over 400,000 times.

The End of the World

Some scientists, on the other hand, went to the European Court for Human Rights to try to stop the collider being turned on. They fear it may create a black hole – which would certainly violate our rights by sucking the planet into... well we don't really know. Professor Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith of Cern says: "The chance we produce a black hole is minuscule." Which is not all that reassuring. But he adds: "Even if we do, it can't swallow up the Earth." It would be too small, and disappear in moments. In any case, they will only send the hadrons in one direction this week. The collisions start in October. Until then, at least, we're not all doomed.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS, YOU ARE PUTTING THE WHOLE EARTH IN DANGER, DON'T YOU SCIENCTICS KNOW THAT A BLACK HOLE IS DANGERES. DON'T YOU GUYS KNOW THAT THIS IS NO FUN AND GAMES, THIS IS THE REAL THING, YOU CAN'T STOP ATOMS FROM BEING HIT, ONCE YOU LET IT GO, IT'S ALL GONE!!! WHAT KIND OF A SCIENCTIST ARE YOU IF YOUR PUTTING A EARTH IN DANGER!!

WHAT IF THE BLACK HOLE SUCKS IN THE TUBE, WHAT IF YOU CAN'T SUCK IT BACK IN. IT IS SO STRONG THAT ONCE THE ATOMS HIT, THEY WILL FORM A BLACK HOLE THAT IS SO STRONG IT PROBERLY SUCKS ALL THE PLANETS IN.

AND WHO KNOWS WHAT IS IT A BLACK HOLE. IT MIGHT KILL ALL OF US. AND BY THE WAY I AM I 10 YEAR OLD AND I CARE ABOUT THIS PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised that the UN isn't stepping in to handle this. This is a load of Sh*t!! what the hell are they thinking?!

do know that the united states government gave them 1 billion dollars to help fund their research. The US only wants to have their name on something if this is the biggest discovery ever it seems like a scam i know that everyone says its real but what if it isn't

Now beams of Protons are not colliding, they will start to collide at high speed in October. So, if end of the world will be, will be at the end of the current year.

In Italy there is a novel, Angelo Paratico "Black Hole" Mursia, Milan, copies being sold like hot cakes in the libraries, just a novel, bu the author seems to forecst Apocalypse & Armageddon by Jan.1st 2009. Evening time, people are noit taking appointments then.

I'm glad the Luddites didn't stop this. It's 2 days later, and guess what? We're still here.

For the purpose of this story, let's call this section Past Watch, for that is the purpose of the controversial Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This 27-kilometre circular tunnel will serve as the arena for some serious atom-smashing, and will give us more insight into what precisely happened when the universe began. It's also, incidentally, been accused of heralding its end--scientists have battled death threats to get this behemoth up and running. On Wednesday, the team of scientists at CERN, Switzerland, gave the LHC its first test run, successfully sending a beam of particles all the way round the tunnel at 99.999998 percent of the speed of light. In October, two such beams will be made to collide at similar speeds, and the researchers hope to recreate the first few seconds of the big bang. The reaction may reveal new dimensions, dark matter, and what is known as the "God particle"--the Higgs boson. The particle is the only one in the Standard Model of particle physics to have never been observed, and is thought to be the reason that particles (and hence us) have mass. With a statement like "recreate the big bang", it's hard not to think of this as the end of the world--the last big bang was pretty darn big, we've been told. However, the scientists are quick to point out that this is a controlled environment, and we aren't likely to see a new universe create itself. And if they're wrong, what can you do? Source: CERN
