To Chop, Perchance To Mince

There are many companies who have choppers on the market, the tool king, Black and Decker, being foremost among them. The real issue with the concept of the chopper, no matter what the brand may be, is its true versatility when compared to the food processor, which costs more but can do a lot more for you, food preparation wise. The Black and Decker Food Chopper is also a mincer, but those are the only two hats that hang in its narrow closet.

As far as choppers go, the Black and Decker Handy Food Chopper can certainly hold its own. The one and one-half cup bowl is just the right size for prepping items, and its large, one-touch button for either coarse or fine chop is great for chopping onions, peppers, herbs, nuts, eggs, fingers and if one is not really careful, sometimes toes. The Black and Decker Handy Food Chopper comes equipped with a stay-sharp bi-level curved blade that guarantees precision cutting every time and the safety-lock lid insures secure operation.

The body of the Black and Decker Handy Food Chopper should never be immersed in water because the poor thing never learned to swim. The bowl, lid and blade, however, are all dishwasher-safe for an easy clean up. The appliance itself weighs 2.8 pounds and stands a bit less than 10 inches tall. The Black and Decker Handy Food Chopper will cheerfully chop its heart out for you, but the real question remains: Is the song it sings one you really want to hear? Does your chopping soul pound to the beat of a different drum?

Choppers come in many shapes, sizes and varieties. I myself have a mandolin (a steel food chopper, which resembles a small guillotine) and sits in my cupboard gathering dust. Every time I look at it, I think of Marie Antoinette and people eating cake while they sit around in white wigs and watch Paris burn. I never use the thing. My food processor however never gets a rest and I use it and clean it at least once almost every day of my life.

The choice can only be yours. The Back and Decker Handy Food Chopper is very reasonably priced and will never let you down. A food processor will certainly set you back a bit more, but in the long run is much more versatile and a better investment.

Whichever way you decide, happy chopping to you!
