Do you have a mildew problem in your house? Are you considering using bleach to solve your problem? This page will give you all the facts about trying to bleach mildew. Also, we will look at some products which you might consider to solve your mildew problem. Fortunately, tons of companies have released products which can help solve your mildew and mold issues, so hopefully you will find information to help you here!

When Should I Use Bleach For Mildew?

Bleach is an incredible cleaning chemical, but it isn't useful for all types of surfaces. It definitely should not be used on fabrics, unfinished wood, and vinyl of some varieties. There are other ways to kill mildew on these types of surfaces: alcohol, for instance, is definitely less likely to hurt your fabrics and wood. There are numerous types of color-safe bleach, but it is still probably safer to use alcohol in these sticky situations.

Alcohol isn't as strong as bleach, so it won't get rid of the stains that mildew leaves as well as bleach. If you decide to go with an alcohol-based mildew remover, definitely be sure to clean the surface EXTREMELY well before applying the alcohol-remover---this is important to make sure your surface still looks good!

The Downsides Of Bleach Mildew Remover

There are a few downsides to using a bleach mildew remover, however. Keep in mind that bleach is a toxic substance, so using it to clean mildew can have some bad side effects. However, these won't be a problem as long as you follow the proper instructions. Essentially, make sure you have proper ventilation, and don't overuse the bleach substance, as too many fumes can begin to damage your lungs.

Realistically, you shouldn't need to worry about any of these problems. Bleach Mildew Remover probably won't affect your body, but you will definitely notice the smell and fumes that come out of the bottle. You'll get used to it quickly, however.

How To Clean A Surface With Bleach Mildew Remover

First of all, you must test the bleach remover on a small part of the surface, before beginning to fully clean. Why? Sometimes, bleach can have some discoloration effects. Test out the bleach first, and if it changes the color even a little bit, dilute it first with water. You can use standard bleach for this process.

If there is no discoloration, or if you are using a stain remover bleach product, then you can go ahead and get to cleaning! Just spray the mildew remover onto the surface, scrub hard w/ a towel or sponge, and continue scrubbing until all the mildew has disappeared! It is important that you get rid of all of the mildew at one time, because otherwise it can begin to grow back pretty rapidly. Get it all done in one try, and make sure it's clean!

If you decide to use an alcohol based cleaner, clean and scrub VERY thoroughly before applying the alcohol base, and then scrub harder to get rid of the mildew. I usually prefer to use bleach, because the alcohol based substances, while less noxious and safer, are typically much more difficult to use.
