Block the unwanted calls from anyone who dont like.. well this option is sometimes very useful and i think it should have been implemented by now in all the mobile phones. Though the mobile network companys offer you "DO NOT DISTURB" option for which you need to register and even after that only calls from these mobile companys are blocked but you will still be getting calls from many tele-callers. vodafone does offer a "call blocking system" to help the customers to avoid such calls but they do charge for this service...(I havnt checked the similar service from other network providers)

There is an application we can use to block unwanted calls on any network. Its Epocware Handy's Blacklist. its a series 60 application that blocks unwanted calls. it povides the run options for blocking calls from your contact list, recent calls or unkown numbers. It also provides with an option of adding rejected calls to the black list automatically. It also keeps lof of all these blocked numbers for 60days.

Epocware recently released Handy Blacklist utility that helps you to block annoying calls and messages from anyone you are do not want to hear from. Users of of Symbian S60 2nd/3rd Editions smartphones can now add phone numbers to the blacklist and get rid off all undesired calls and messages.

Handy Blacklist allows you to:

* Add the phone numbers to the blacklist to prevent them calling and even sending you an SMS. The only way you will notice that person called you is by observing the application call log;

* Block private and unknown calls too;

* Add to the blacklist the numbers you have disconnected manually.

There are 2 types of lists depending on your choice of interest you can use them. These lists with different functions will keep unwanted calls hidden from your eyes. You have one blacklist and several Allow lists. Only one list can be activated at the moment.

Blacklist consists of numbers you want to block. you can add the nubers from recent calls, contact list or just by typing them. If you reject a call manually, the software will propose you to add that number to blacklist automatically! Blocking of Private and Unknown calls is also available.

Allow list consists of numbers which will be allowed to receive while others will be rejected. In addition, you can choose a "reject" action to return a prewritten text message back to the caller. A notification of the missed calls appearing in a popup note can be set by user as well.

Blocking certain phone numbers can be easy for land line users, but for mobiles, SmartPhones and PDA Devices, third party mobile phone softwares need to be downloaded and installed for blocking calls effectively.
