First of all a blog is a short statement of an individuals opinion or a short story that shows an individual's opinion on some topic. Personal blogs on personal websites can be negative in content but if you want to write blogs for profit you need to always keep to the positive aspect of the topic you select to write about.

Lots of people write blogs sometimes called blurbs. I would think that most of them just post them on their personal web site for fun. For those of you that would like to write blogs for profit, I would like to talk a little about blog writing. I will talk a bit about what a blog is, how to write them when you are being paid to, how to write them to use them to make a profit, and mention some themes you can use for blogs.

When you write blogs for profit building the blog will provide a link to a web site for more information on the topics you wrote the blog for.

To be a blog, and not considered a mini-article or a full article, it should be only around 100 words long. Keep it short and to the point. If you want to talk about more than one single point on a topic either write a blog for each point or go to the article format. Blogs are short to be quick attention getters.

In a blog your first sentence is a quick introduction to your topic. The next 2 or 3 sentences is where your opinion is clearly stated. The last one is where you wrap it up. Some of you will recognize this structure to be pretty much the same a how you go about writing a paragraph that you learned about in your English class in school.

No matter what your blog topic is you should write the blog according to a theme or style. Some of the themes I use are;

1) How To's

2) Benefits of

3) Tips for

4) Comparing

The most important thing is make every sentence count. Don't repeat yourself (this is called echoing or redundancy) It makes people less inclined to read your blog or to tell others about what you blog has to say. Before you post your blog it is a really good idea to check the spelling too. Many people love to read things just to find where people misspell words so they can point it out to them.

So just keep blogs short, on point, theme consistent, and spell checked and you will be ok.

Very good advice! And you are right, I have visited some blogs that were just too long that it lost my attention and I went elsewhere. Great hub!

Thanks for your comment. It is good that you commented on how easy is it to lose a reader if a blog is just to long. I hope this hub and others I intend to write will help net writers to become more effecient and thus productive in their efforts.
