Blogging is the new revolution. Or at least it used to be. Blogging came on the scene in a big way about five years ago. Before that, the word hardly existed. It stands for Web Log. It started as a way for people to keep a diary on the web. Thus the chronological nature of blogging. It date stamps everything in the order in which it was entered in the blog.
Over the years, the popularity of blogging has grown by very very large numbers. Blogging appealed to every day people as it gave them a way to express themselves on the Internet. Additionally, an entire host of software packages came along to assist bloggers with easy methods to publish their thoughts online. This also appealed to people who wanted to have some type of public life where their voices could be heard.
More recently, blogging has turned commercial. This has been an issue filled with controversy as many people feel that it should not be. There was something pure in the early blog movement where people were not motivated by money, but more by the desire to be heard and broadcast messages that were not filtered by the larger societal forces. With sponsorship and commerce at play, the larger forces are once again having an impact on blogging. Which some people feel is negative.
