Blogs Are Not books

Blogs are a Different Species
First of all, what we expect from a bookis quite different from what we expect from a blog. Now, unfortunately, e-reading has never really caught on simply because it's tiresome to read on a computer screen. so, when i order a book from Amazon or Barnes & Nobel, I expect to curl up with that book, leaf through write on it and pretty much treat it in a very different way than i would treat some information on the computer. Now, to me, blogs should be kept to the point, brief and succinct. Blogs are an abbreviation for 'B'rief 'l'og, or blog. It should be a brief post. I have to tell you that I have written books and even poetry. My books needed to be books, because they contained a great deal of new information. They were about Vedic Astrology. Shakespeare's works are long, because they develop very intricate characters and plots. Books, Poems, and drama are different genres. A blog is a completely different animal. Even my mentor first told me to keep it brief. Some people claim that 1500 words is the appropriate number of words for the search engines. However, according to SEO Book, each format has its' own criterion. One thing is emphasized: quality, not quatity. And, most importantly, blogs is for social networking. And, to me, that would mean trackbacking to other blogs as I have quoted in an earlier post. This is something that Jack Humphrey, author of the Authority Black Book emphasizes. Of course, anyone who knows Jack, knows Howie schwartz who teaches "Conversation Domination" for getting top rankings with the search engines. Ross on myspace has given us some helpful insight into the reality of blogging with the video here. Reality: blogging is a social networking genre.
