Blu-ray vs. DVD

The Facts

Q: Will a blu-ray player play all my DVDs I already have?

A: Yes it will and it will actually upgrade them to a HD quality picture. (not the quality of a blu-ray disc but quite nice)

Q: Why is the picture quality so good with a blu-ray player and disc?

A: The blu-ray disc will hold three times the amount of information a standard disc will hold. This allows more color to be stored which is what makes up the picture. The more pixels you can store will result in the more detailed picture.

Q: Will blu-ray discs player on a standard DVD player?

A: Unfortunately they will not because the blu-ray disc has more information stored and the standard player can not keep up.

Q: Do youneed a Hi-def (1080) tv for your blu-ray player?

A: You really do because the blu-ray is in 1080 resolution and you must have a hi-def tv to display that high of a resolution. The 1080 is the pixels which in simple terms you can just think of as colors.

Q: Are all blu-ray players basically the same?

A: No. You should make sure you get one that can receive updates so it can keep up with the changes in technology. I prefer Sony myself plus they invented blu-ray technology.

Q: Is a blu-ray player worth the money? I mean will I really notice that much of a difference?

A: Absolutely! I promise anyone that really cares about picture quality you will not be disappointed.

I like to help anyone I can. When the blu ray came out I thought it would not play the two hundred dvd's I had so I stayed away for some time.
