The "Boat Angel" Scam

If you've received a check either by mail or UPS from Boat Angel, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CASH THAT CHECK! You will be arrested for check fraud. This is a large-scale practical joke that is preying on the most vulnerable of Americans. Apparently, these low-life's are looking up addresses and phone numbers on a site called Digital Charity.com and sending fraudulent checks. You gotta love these A-Holes, in some cases, taking the last shred of hope for some people and defecating all over them. I contacted Boat Angel, directly after receiving a crazy UPS overnight delivery containing a check for $3,200, and spoke to a guy concerning this matter. He informed me of a major scam taking place and told me that people were being arrested for trying to cash these checks. I immediately tore the check up and began writing this piece. Boat Angel is a great charity that uses donated boats to create revenue. They produce videos and books to spread a message of love, trying to keep American youth from incarceration. They are doing great work over there and I hope that their name will not be tarnished due to this scam. www.boatangel.com

My UPS overnight package had this name and address on it:

Mary Wells, 7 Timber Tr. Camden, AK 71701

Phone # 869-876-3126 (not valid, of course)

I just have to say something. I hope that those behind this hope-killing debacle face a punishment deserving of their crime. Not only are they getting people arrested, getting them in trouble with their banks, and costing Bank of America (in some cases) money in a recession. They are helping in the overall decline of trust and faith in a country that needs something to believe in during these troubled times. It is sad that there are people who laugh at this type of thing, while those that got a little hope lose just a little more faith. I hope Karma bites you all harder than the people you s*it on. In reality, not because I'm angry...people try to scam me all of the time (because for some reason I still believe in America)....I hope you die of some horrible, painful, torturing disease. I hope, as you lay there in pain, your family laughs at you and leaves you to die alone...That is what I hope for those of you that prepare and execute these hope-killing scams...

that is a tough one, amanda. I'd call the bank and explain the situation to them and hope they understand. The bank will eventually find out that the check was a fraud and unless you tell them...you could be arrested.
