Body art is one of the earliest forms of artistic expression know to humankind and it is made on, with, or consisting of, the human body.

It has been used to indicate status, religious devotion, desired protection against evil and disease, and much more.

Today, people express many different reasons for getting various forms of body art. Some of them are a means of personal expression, while others continue to decorate their bodies as a means of commemorating an important event/time in their lives

Different Styles of Body Arts

  • Tattoos
  • Branding/Scarification
  • Body Paint
  • Piercing
  • Permanent Makeup
  • Aesthetic Dentistry
  • Body Shaping
  • Scalpelling

Here is the few body arts information.

Tattoos

Tattoos are permanent designs made by inserting colored ink into the layers of skin to change the pigment.

Most tattoo artists are use an electric instrument that forces a needle in and out of the skin, leaving ink below the surface.

Tattoos on humans are a type of decorative body modification, and tattoos on animals are commonly used for identification.

Tattoos Tips and Safity

  • Some people may also be allergic to the pigments in tattoo ink. These pigments are not regulated by the FDA. In fact, some pigments used in tattooing are meant for industrial uses like painting cars or printing.
  • Exposure to sunlight may cause tattoos to become itchy and irritated. we can prevent this by covering your tattoo with special sunscreen.
  • Temporary Rub-on decal tattoos are generally more safer then permanent tattoos a safe to use but some people with sensitive skin may still develop a reaction, though.
  • Ink cups, gloves, disposable needles, towels and masks these should be single-use only and thrown away after every client. Make sure safe practices are followed in regard to body fluids that can transmit infection. Check with your local health department if you are unsure.
  • After finishing the tattoo, the artist will cover the design with antibiotic ointment and cover it with a gauze bandage. After 12 to 24 hours, you can remove the bandage, then wash the tattoo with mild soap and gently pat it dry.
  • In my opinion, your arm is the least painful place to get tattooed. However, pain tolerance varies from person to person.
  • People with darker complexions should avoid tattoos with blue, purple and yellow and red is the color that shows up best on tanned or dark skin. Most colors won't show up as bright on darker skin.

Body piercing

Body piercing is the practice of puncturing or cutting a part of the human body, creating an opening in which jewellery may be worn.Specially in Indian, the nose piercing dates back to emperor Akbar distinguishing a Hindu woman, the ear piercing is a religious custom.

Body Piercing Tips

  • The cultural norms reflected in body piercing are various. They may include religion, spirituality, fashion, eroticism, conformism, or subcultural identification.
  • Wash your piercing area with an antibacterial soap. The needle to be used should be new and clean.
  • Those with tongue or lip piercing choose an antibacterial mouthwash that does not contain alcohol and rinse your mouth after all meals and snacks.
  • Those going for tongue or mouth piercing, make sure your teeth and gums are healthy.
  • The jewelry you will be piercing must be rust free and well washed with water.
  • Don't use strong cleaning agents if the area is infection-free. Avoid alcohol or Peroxide to clean the area at any time. They may dry out your skin. Use of Betadine will remove the color of gold jewelry.
  • Clean your telephone if you have an ear piercing. Wash the part of eye glasses that comes in contact with your ear with soap and water.

Scarification

Scarification is very dangerous body modification and Scarifying involves scratching, some sort of superficial cutting or incision as a permanent body modification, etching designs, pictures, or words into the skin.

The materials for inducing the wounds need to be sanitary, but the wound needs to be kept clean, using antibacterial solutions or soaps often, and having good hygiene in general.

The scarification worker needs to have detailed knowledge of the anatomy of human skin, in order to prevent tools cutting too deep, burning too hot, or burning for too long.

Scarification isn't nearly as popular as tattooing, so it is harder to find workers experienced in scarification.

Scalpelling

Scalpelling is similar to body piercing for the creation of decorative perforations through the skin and other body tissue, and is most commonly used as a replacement for or enhancement of ear piercing.

Whereas piercing is typically performed with a hollow piercing needle or an ear piercing instrument, scalpelling is performed with a scalpel and can immediately produce holes with a larger diameter than can be achieved by piercing.

One potentially negative effect of scalpelling is that the holes created by the process are less likely to close naturally over time than those from stretched piercings.
