Body Building Exercises
73Muscle Definition Exercises
Body building exercises are used to add muscle and reduce fat in a body building program. The exercises that are performed will make all the difference in the world in how effective the body building program is. The good thing is that there are many, many body building exercises that are incorporated into a workout that will help grow muscles and keep the body builder fit and trim.
Many people go to the gym to lift weights. This is a way to develop and build their muscles. Typical regimens include alternating days of upper body work with lower body work. For instance, on Monday and Thursday they might work their upper body, while on Tuesday and Friday they might work their lower body. This gives the muscles time to repair and grow between workouts. Most weight lifting programs involve lifting in sets. For instance they might do three sets of ten repetitions of bench press exercises. It really depends on your goals how many sets and repetitions of each that you attempt to do. But typically if you are doing body building exercises you will do low repetitions and a high number of sets.
Body Building Exercises for Your Legs
For big legs, body builders do a lot of barbell squats and dead lifts. The resistance they are putting on their legs when they perform these types of exercises will push your muscles to make them grow. That's the point of an intense workout program in the first place. The leg press is another popular exercise performed to develop big legs. Weight lifting with the legs will help the quadriceps and hamstrings become tight and fit.
The video below shows what a very good technique of building muscle mass through squats. The lady on the video has perfect form which is one of the important things body builders consider when performing squats.

Body Building Exercises for Your Chest
The chest is typically exercised using either bar bells, dumbbells or both using a weight bench. Weight lifters will perform bench presses at a decline, incline or simply a flat bench. They will also make the most of dumbbells. These can be used to target the pectoral muscles using a fly exercise as well as replacement for the bar bells. Additionally body weight targeted exercises that are handy for building the chest muscles include push-ups and pull-ups. Creating a weight training workout plan is most helpful.
The video below shows the proper way to perform a bench press. There are many exercises that you can do for your chest.

Body Building Exercise - Shoulder
Shoulders are exercised with overhead presses using weight bars or dumbbell. Body building exercises such as lateral raises and rows are also used to build up the shoulder area.
The video below shows an example of the kind of body building exercises that can be done for working out the shoulder area. Again, heavier weight will be required if the weight lifter is working on body building.

Body Building Exercises - The Back
Working out the back can be very difficult. There are targeted exercises that a body builder can do to define the whole back. When working the upper back, a pull-down bar machine is typically used for body building. This is a two handled curved bar that is attached to weights with a pulley system. You pull the bar down with your shoulders behind you. To build the lower back, the weight lifter might try the back extension exercise while holding a weight.
The video below shows an example of building the back.muscles.

Body Building Exercise - Arms
When working the arms, the body building exercises most commonly used is a lot of barbell and dumbbell curls. Some weight lifters will utilize pull-up with a bar to further define the biceps. Tricep dips, overhead extensions and kickbacks will help build the muscle in your triceps.
Weigth Lifting - Arms
Body Building Exercises - Abs
Great abs are formed much in the same way as any other muscle group. They need to be worked, strained, and pushed in order to become toned. You can get that toned, sculpted look by doing simple sit ups and crunches, but weights can help too. Try hanging from a chin up bar and lifting your knees up, or get on a machine specially designed to tone the ab muscles.
The video below shows some exercises used to build the abs giving it that typical "6-pack" look.
Building Strong and Firm Abs
Body building exercises requires motivation and stamina. There really are two types of body building that I believ exists. One, you are a body builder looking for muscle development. You are trying to develop oversized muscle, mass and strength for weight lifting tourneys or even body building competition. Or perhaps you simply want to have the look of a body builder.
On the other side you may want to use body building exercises to firm and tone up your body. The exercises are the same but you do not try to build up the muscle but rather go for tone. This is accomplished by adding more repetitions and less weight.

The optimum amount of reps a bodybuilder should be doing for the best results is about 8 - 10. Less that this targets muscle strength and more that this works on muscle endurance. 8 - 10 allows for a good balance of strength, power, growth and definition which is the aim.
NB: This is assuming heavy weights are being used until muscle failure.
Usefull tips, thanx for the post.
Got a question: I have no bench for doing bench press, and I've replaced that exercise with pushups, adding some weight on my back using a backpack. My chest has definetely grown bigger, but the method is a bit uncomfortable. Could I suffer an injury doing it like this?
Thanks a lot in advance!
If you are going for bulk having extra weight to push up is your only option. Particularly given that you don't have a bench. The backpack is clever. Yea you could suffer an injury but you could do the same lifting heavy weights on a bench. Keeping good form will help.
