The "Bomber Girl" or the artwork of the Pin-Up Girl on the old World War II Bomber nose, has always held a strange facsination for me. To the point I now buy posters, photos and collect just about anything with this bit of history. There is an alluring beauty and style to "Nose Art", not to mention it marks a poinyent moment in time. The Pin-Up Girl has been laced thoughout the history of WWII and is has important to telling the story of the era. As much as the Ships, Planes, and People of the time. When a generation stood together proudly for a common cause.

The Strawberry Bitch was based on an Alberto Varga painting from Esquire magazine, plastered on the nose of a B-24 Liberator that flew 59 missions in the war. Targets included Rome, Athens, Budapest, Bucharest, Toulon, Sofia (Bulgaria), and Wiener Neustadt (Austria) . . . ironically, just about everywhere EXCEPT Germany.

Well thanks to My grandmother for building those Bad Babies for the skies...since she was one of the great many women who worked on the B-52 Bombers for WWII.... She was the lead Welder/Rivetter for her Building at El Toro Marine Base in Irvine Ca......
That is so cool! You have a personal connection to an important bit of history, a whole era, and a celebrated time that is still loved and romanticized to this day.
Plus, I believe the "Rosie the Riviter Memorial Park" is in California
