Favorite Socks: 25 Timeless Designs from Interweave is a sock lover's paradise: tons of sock projects in gorgeous photographs from one of the most popular knitting publications today. There are repeat patterns in this book that you may recognize from Interweave Knits magazine, but there are new designs as well. Unless you have every issue of Interweave Knits since 1996, chances are a lot of these socks will be new to you.

You have the option to knit socks from the cuff down or the toe up; there are one-color patterns as well as fancier options with Fair Isle details. There are lacy socks as well as cozy, fuzzy ones in soft-as-air yarn. In short, there are socks here for everyone.

Nancy Bush, a knitter whose name is nearly synonymous with sock knitting due to her books Knitting Vintage Socks and Knitting on the Road, has several patterns featured, but all of the socks deserve mention.

Whether you want socks that go up to the knee, anklets, or something in between, there's a pattern for you here. You can knit these socks with double-pointed needles or circular needles. With Priscilla's Dream Socks, you can customize the socks with virtually any yarn and for any foot. It's a basic sock recipe that allows for many combinations.

There are basic knitting instructions, tips and tricks so that even a knitting neophyte can learn to knit a simple pair of socks from this book. However, there are more complex socks, some very complicated, and many not so. Basically, there are socks here for every skill level.

Many knitters love to give handknit socks as gifts; using this book, a knitter could easily make two dozen pairs of completely different socks to give away--or keep.

With the wide array of sock yarns currently available, there's no shortage of colors and color combinations you can create. Sock knitting is fun, portable, and hot. Sock clubs have even sprung up in recent years. What's so great about knitting socks is that nearly everyone wears them--maybe not year-round, but they tend to be a universal clothing item. If you're new to sock-knitting, this book will present many opportunities to inspire you. If you've knit socks for a while, this book will continue to keep that inspiration going.

Favorite Socks would make a lovely gift for the sock knitter in your life, whether that sock knitter is someone else or yourself.
