Love to read? Love to write?

Are you in love with writing mysteries? Maybe you like the suspense mysteries with a twist?  Maybe a bit of a horror bug lives within you?  How about detective mysteries and detective suspense but don’t really know everything you wanted to know on key elements needed for your story to come alive?  I too am into these types of books and LOVE to write them.  But I know that I am missing key elements to really make my story pop, to really reach out and grab the reader by the throat and force them to want to read my story.  So I went on a quest to find other books that will help me better myself, my imagination, my though process, and of course ideas to make my characters and story really come to life.

Borders, Barnes & Nobles, and of course other bookstores always comes in great supplies of books by  authors, editors, and publishers who wish to help us hopeful authors better our writing as well as ourselves.  Grammar books, books on certain genres, books on editing, even a planner book to keep you on track with your writing.

While searching for these types of books, I have uncovered some very interesting books that can help a writer broaden not only their reading lists but also their writing skills.  And what have I found? Millions of tons of books that will help but not many that I wanted to read, not many that caught my interest.  Finally, I have found a few titles that have caught my interest and cannot wait to read.

Try these on for size

Howdunit: Forensics A Guide For Writers by D.P. Lyle, M.D. (lol and yes it does actually have whodoneit spelled howdunit on the top of the books.)

Howdunit: Book Of Poisons A Guide For Writers by Serita Stevens, RN, BSN, MA, LNC and Anne Bannon

Howdunit: Police Procedure & Investigation A Guide For Writers by Lee Lofland Foreword by Stuart Kaminsky

Bullies, Bustards & Bitches How To Write The Bad Guys Of Fiction by Jessica Page Morrell

A Field Guide To The Wildflowers Of North America by Joan Barker (of course I would recommend getting other guides of flowers all over the world so you can portray the areas correct flowers)

Writer’s Digest: Weekly Planner (I just bought this one and still need to write in it.  It has great tips at the bottom of the pages)

And for those who wish to go back to college for writing here is a great book to look up: A Guide For Student Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians And Writers Creative Colleges Second Edition by Elaina Loveland.  She has also written the book Creative Careers which I will be looking for next time I run into one of my favorite book stores.

I am also waiting for more books that I have bought online about animals, reptiles, amphibians, and insects so that I can know more about all creatures and can portray them correctly in my stories.  I will also be getting one on trees and birds but for now I will deal with the books I have, will be getting, and of course research on the Internet though I do prefer researching in books more that on the Internet.

I hope some of you may have found this hub helpful, especially with the books I have posted.  Enjoy and I hope you read these as many others that are out there on the market to help further you writing.
