Sponsorships

I'm sure all of you have seen David Beckham playing soccer for LA Galaxy wearing Herbalife jersey. LeBron James on promoting Gatorade and many other sports icon wearing commercial products. Truly these products gained popularity because of these stars. Last Beijing Olympics, Coca Cola company colored the stands red in one venue of an event. These are just examples of sponsoring events, though this companies mentioned are huge and can afford to sponsor this big stars and events. But despite the popularity of these big companies, why they still get these popular stars and spend much to pay for talent fees? It is because they need to maintain their popularity and it would be easy for them to introduce new products.

One example is the Amway sponsorship to the event in Shanghai – the Chinese Snooker – now known as the Amway Satinique Cup National Snooker League – to promote its men’s hair conditioner product. Also to gain more popularity, once small companies sponsors big events so that their customers range will be doubled or more than that. The latest Amway sponsoring is the Tina Turner concert tour. An eight-time Grammy winner Tina Turner, with seven top-10 singles. She's sold nearly 200 million albums. She's been dubbed "The Queen of Rock & Roll." And that is why Amway Global is proud to be rollin' on the river as the Presenting Sponsor of the "Tina Turner Live In Concert" 2008 North American tour. This sponsorship is part of an unprecedented investment to help raise public awareness of their business, opportunity, and products, and bring in more consumers. The sponsorship of Ms. Turner's concert tour will bring the Amway Global name to millions through advertising and at-event exposure.

One way to increase your sales is to improve your product visibility to the audience. The question now is how to make your product well-known to the people. Aside from creating ads on tv, newsletters, newspapers and other media, sponsoring events can increase brand awareness to people. Choosing the right events to sponsor is targeting the right and potential customers for your products. If you're selling energy drinks, you may sponsor sports events to prove your products really are energy boosters.

You can sponsor any event you want and surely your product will gain popularity and eventually lead you to sales increase. Sponsoring, however, takes much of your marketing budget but the money spent will be paid off especially when you are sponsoring a big event.
