There are many sellers that offer custom bottle cap necklaces that would be great for your birthday party favors. The finished bottle caps are put on coordinating grosgrain ribbon or a silver ball chain. Sometimes the necklaces are embellished with dangle beads for a really fun look.

The custom bottle cap necklaces I have posted on this page were created by Honey Girl Boutique and My Funky Jewels. They are priced between $6.50-$9.99 and would make a wonderful stand alone party favor for the birthday guests. These sellers currently offer many birthday party themes including Dora the Explorer, High School Musical, Jonas Brothers, Camp Rock, Hannah Montana, Zac Efron, Butterflies, Disney Princesses, Twilight, Minnie Mouse, Ladybugs, Strawberry Shortcake, Peace Signs and more.

Simply purchase one of the fancy organza jewelry pouches I have listed below for the necklace and they are ready to hand out to the party guests.

Custom Bottle Caps

Buy the Bottle Cap, Assemble the Necklace

There are many sellers that offer custom crafted bottle caps. These bottle caps feature a large variety of different birthday party themes. Many of them are made to coordinate with official partyware designs, so you are sure to find the perfect theme for your party favors.

The bottle caps are epoxy sealed and are crafted from bottle caps which are unused and uncrimped which means they have never been sealed down on a bottle.

If you decide to purchase these custom bottle caps and assemble your own party favor necklaces, here is what you need to do:

  • Punch a hole through the flattened rim of the bottle cap using a hammer and nail.
  • Use jewelry pliers to attach a jump ring through the punched hole.
  • Slide the finished bottle cap onto a ball chain or ribbon.

*Birthday Party Tip:  These custom bottle caps can also be used to embellsh the birthday invitations and/or decorate party favor bags.

About Epoxy Seals

These easy to apply bottle cap seals provide a crystal clear 3D sealed bottle cap without the fuss of sealants.  You can make quality bottle caps in minutes.

Crafting Your Bottle Cap Necklaces From Scratch

You can also craft your bottle caps from scratch. The process is fairly simple and making the favor necklaces is a fun project you and your daughter can work on together. There is more than one way to create bottle cap necklaces, however, I will list the basic instructions below.

  • Purchase unused bottle caps. *Used bottle caps tend to have sharp edges around the cap.
  • Bottle caps can be flattened or used as they are
  • If you choose to flatten your bottle caps, place them ridge side down. Using a mallet, tap the bottle cap twice on top. Then, turn over and hit it once more to even it out
  • Find a small image you would like to use for your bottle cap
  • Using a 1" circle punch, punch out your image
  • *There are sellers that offer premade bottle cap images in many designs.  Nice time saver.
  • Glue the image to the bottle cap
  • Seal the bottle cap using Diamond Glaze, Liquid Lacquer or Resin
  • Wait 24 hrs for the coating to completely dry
  • Once your bottle cap is completely dry, you can then follow the necklace making instructions above to assemble your necklace
  • *If you use Clear Epoxy 3D Circles, there is no drying time required

Choker Bottle Cap Necklaces

In addition to placing your completed bottle caps onto ball chain necklaces and ribbon, you can also create a choker necklace for your bottle caps.

To make a choker necklace, you can use organza ribbon or stretch grosgrain ribbon. This ribbon is available in a variety of colors. You can even use a velvet stretch ribbon. Some of this ribbon is already assembled with a clasp and all you need to do is add your bottle cap. Other times you can purchase the ribbon and add the clasp yourself.

Janet, I must say you are amazing. You are always finding all these great and interesting niche topics, and your articles are so well constructed. Remember the little people when you become filthy rich :) - it is only a matter of time I think.

@shibashake: Filthy rich would be great, but I'll settle for making enough money to continue being an at home Mom. ;) Thanks for your kind words and compliments. It is comments like this that help keep me going!

These are so cool Janet - I really like these - I am thinking to myself - do I have any bottles with caps? They are hard to find now, but I guess you have to get them from Ebay or drink lots of beer - hmmmm. A beer sounds perfect - lol.

I wish I would have read this before buying bottle caps! Does anyone know that the stretcy part of the necklace is made of? Also, I purchased a pourable sealer - do the disks sold on ebay work better?

Thanks for the help! And I vote for drink more beer!!

@lisa1203, the stretchy part of the necklace is made from stretchy ribbon. I have added some additional products to this hub including stretch ribbon and premade choker necklaces. Maybe these items will give you some more ideas. As far as the epoxy seals go, I have never personally used them, however, I have heard great things about them. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by my hub. :)

I am working on making bottle caps now!! I can't find the right kindof glaze to put over them to seal it. I bought Aleene's paper galze and a ton of other products testing them out. I have been printing little sayings from word and then trying to glue and glaze them in my bottle cap and they ALL smear. What am i doing wrong? different paper? different glaze? any help?!? :-/

Stacy, I have never used Aleene's paper glaze before, but I have heard from other people that it can be difficult to work with. I would recommend trying Diamond Glaze or the adhesive epoxy seals I have listed on this page. Also, what type of paper are you using to print out your images? High quality photo paper works best. Hope this helps!

Stacy   says:

thanks! can you get the diamond glaze at a store or just off the internet? i was just using card stock because they were just little sayings that i was making on word "2nd grade rocks" But i have some photo paper i will try it with. thanks for your help! :) i sealed a few with E6000 and it worked great, didn't smear the writing, but OH MY i couldn't stand the smell when i wore the necklace! haha

What is the stretch stuff the M3 peeps use. I thought it looked like the nylon potholder stuff at Hobby Lobby but it isn't stretchy or long enough. Has anyone seen the stretchy stuff? I want to make the chokers but I can't find it? Any help appreciated.

@annie: I really don't know what the m3 girls use for their choker necklaces. I have been trying to figure that out, too! You are right, though, they do look a lot like nylon potholder material.

If anyone reading this page knows the answer to this question, please feel free to post it here, so we can end the mystery. :)

@janet21: I have been using nylon stockings for the chockers actually girls tights since they come in a variety of colors. They work perfect!

I was wondering, how exactly do you hammer the nail to make the hole? What kind of surface do u use for that? Thx

Janet21 profile image

Janet21  says:

@Elizabeth: You should hammer the nail into the bottlecap on a sturdy, flat surface. I use my work table, but any table would be fine. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cool idea, I cannot say that I've seen it before. I think I must send my baby shower favor reader here. They will really enjoy this!
