Boys School Uniform-Boys Dockers School Uniform Is HOT

Updated on June 16, 2016

Call it what you want, but when it comes to a dress code school uniform - boys (or girls) school uniforms, are common in many countries.  Typically, school uniforms migrate toward the traditional, dark colored trousers or shorts with white dress shirts  and ties, complimented with blazers and/or sweaters.

Currently, over 32 countries require school uniforms , although many USA public schools do not require uniforms.  Countries where school uniforms are primarily used are:

Australia, Brazil, Burma, Cambodia, Chile, China, Honk Kong, Denmark, Dominican Republic, England & Ireland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jamaica, Malaysia, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tonga, Turkey, United States, and Wales.

Traditional uniform wear is common across the world, but outfit examples range from traditional to relaxed (or casual). Relaxed school uniforms have expanded the look to jeans or khakis and polo knit shirts in a variety of colors. The trend away from traditional boys school uniforms was created to help parents with the cost of school and play clothes by giving them a choice in clothing that works both in and out of school.

Non-traditional boys school uniforms are becoming efficient, cost effective and trendy.

A Dockers boys school uniform consistently meet recommended school requirements for uniform dress codes.

Typical Boys School Uniform Generally Consists of:

  • Pants or Trousers
  • Shorts
  • Belt
  • Blazers
  • Sweater
  • Turtleneck
  • Collared Shirts-Dockers polo style with multiple varieties and often layered
  • Shoes with flat soles or dressy sneakers

Recently there is an increase to use dress codes for grades K-12. In most schools, regulations vary greatly, but a general idea of a typical boys school uniform includes several standard clothing pieces.

Dress codes for school uniforms in the United States in general use standardized restrictions on clothes that are: ripped or torn, show exposed underwear, and any clothing item that is unsafe, obscene or gang-related. Some school dress codes outline shirt styles (i.e. collared) and pants (i.e. khaki) that schools allow, and also specific colors (normally school colors are picked).

“The uniform makes for brotherhood, since when universally adopted it covers up all differences of class and country.”

The debate over  school uniform versus no school uniform continues.  Sides are divided on whether they are good or not.  Bottom line is best explained in a point by point description:

Pro:

1-Evidence suggests that by removing the stigma of clothing and colors that they are improving students study habits by helping them to blend in.  In other words, kids are mean when other kids don't wear what is trendy or popular, so those kids are made fun of.  If the clothing stigma is taken away students can focus on learning.  School uniforms help relieve the pressure students may feel because they are tall, short, thin, fat, and they either don't blend in with other kids, or they can't afford to.

2-Experts have said that they believe that because students dress is more professional, that they will behave more like serious students in class.

3-Cost is the third reason given.  School uniforms are seen as more affordable than a closet full of trendy clothes.

4-Students are identified easier and faster in school uniforms.

5-Decisions about what to wear in the morning are eliminated.

Con:

1-Some believe that uniforms don't allow students to express their individuality or give them self expression.

2-Cost can be seen as a negative too - By forcing parents to buy clothing that will only be worn inside the school walls.

3-Some argue that school uniforms can contain materials that may not be comfortable.

Dockers Boys school uniforms provide trendy clothing that can be worn outside of school and give students self expression.  My take on school uniforms is that if you can't express yourself and your uniqueness through your personality then you have a lot more problems than clothing.

School is a place to learn, but I do remember wanting to wear the 'cool and trendy' clothes that my peers had.  Then again, my friends weren't getting shot or stabbed because of a jacket or pair of sneakers, either.  Wear your school uniform with pride and make yours a great uniform so that other kids want to copy your school uniform.
