Just a "Nice Guy", "lonely soul"

Boston "More Than a Feeling" 6/79

Undiagnosed Psychiatric Problems led to his death

Brad Delp was the legendary lead singer of the band Boston, who committed suicide last year. I wanted to speak a little about his astrology. First of all, his birth time is unknown, but I have rectified it to 2:45 PM. The Planet saturn is in the Ascendant in Virgo (sidereal) and of course, this leads to success in other countries. Brad was in an 18 year Rahu period (1974-1992) when he and Tom Scholtz first became an overnight success in 1976. Rahu is in his 6th house, which is the house of occupation. Now most of the planets are between the two nodes, except for Saturn, so this is a modified Kalaparusha Yoga. This, of course, is frequently connected to manic-depression. The Moon is also conjunct with its enemy, Ketu. This has a tendency to cause paranoia. Furthermore, Ketu is in the 12th position to the ascendant and this usually results in an obsession with one's childhood, or early years. Possibly, this may have been a factor in the suicide, since he was scheduled to be married in a few months, but was now an old man of 55. He was in a Jupiter/Rahu/Venus period when he committed suicide, meaning that these three planets had a hand in his death. Now, according to the sages, the rulers of the 7th and the 2nd house are marakas, or killers. Jupiter is the ruler of the 7th (Pisces); Rahu is always connected to chemicals, indicating the method of his death, namely carbon monoxide poisoning; and Venus is the ruler of the 2nd house (Libra). Brad Delp was a beautiful, but undiagnosed bipolar, possibly paranoid personality. He pinned a note to his shirt saying that he felt he was a "lonely soul." Very sorry to see him go. He will be missed; my sympathies to his family.

Brad's replacement: Tommy DeCarlo

Surprisingly, the band Boston was not involved with psychedelic drugs, according to the Press. Apparently, when Tom Scholtz etal were looking for his replacement, they bypassed Arnel Pineda who is now the lead singer for Journey and found an extremely unknown Home Depot credit manager who was singing in bowling alleys. His name is Tommy DeCarlo and he is touring with them right now. Apparently, Tommy's daughter put his cover videos up on Myspace. Did they make the right choice? What do you think? I have his link below. Personally, on all of Tommy's sites, all I could hear was the instrumentals. My personal preference was for Arnel Pineda singing "More than a Feeling." But maybe Tom thought the Philippine connection was just too much.

Lyrics are Melancholy

Even the lyrics of "More than a feeling" refer to depression and reminiscence of earlier, better times.

Interesting...I know nothing about astrology, and I never heard that the Moon had an enemy, or that this enemy had a name, Ketu. BUT, I definitely know that there is so much more to our existences than each of us will ever comprehend or understand....in that spirit...very interesting!

"Personally, on all of Tommy's sites, all I could hear was the instrumentals" You might want to invest in a new computer because every track that I heard of tommy's was no instrumental!

God Bless Brad

More Than A Feeling-Absolute Dynamite! No other words to describe this song and classic album I first listened to on 8 Track tape through the Summer of 1977. One of the few good things in music after early 1974 between Mid 1974 and 1979 that every song on the album still sounds great. Music from the Mid to End of the 1970's was mostly a boring period then music variety started sounding good again in 1980 for the first time in 6 years. Most albums from the Mid to Late 1970's I don't like anymore. This is one of the few exceptions.
