#1 - Try and prepare your girlfriend ahead of time. You might want to start dropping hints that you are not satisfied with the relationship. Stop spending so much time with her, and reduce the spending that you do on her. Don’t buy her a diamond pendant and then dump her. You’ll be sending mixed signals.

#2 - Let her know that you are the one ending the relationship. Don’t let your girlfriend find out from her friends or yours that the relationship is ending. Make sure that you tell her personally.

#3 - Find a public place to breakup with her. Make sure that you find a neutral and very public place to breakup with her. If you breakup with her in a public place then she will be less likely to have a melt down in public.

#4 - Be a man and end the relationship face to face. Don’t send an email or a text message to end a relationship. It is the worst thing that you can do to someone.

#5 - Make sure that you keep the breakup as uncomplicated as possible. Tell her that you are breaking up with her, and be prepared to tell her why. You can be sure that she will ask you why. Make it short and sweet though. You don’t want to spend time reliving the entire relationship in an afternoon.

#6 - When you break up with your girlfriend try and explain it in such a way that she can see it from your perspective. She is more likely to be able to deal with the breakup better if she fully understands your reasoning.

#7 - Once you make the decision to end the relationship do it quickly. End the relationship and don’t consider going back. You have to remember that you’ve thought about it and you are leaving for a reason(s). It is very unlikely that things will change between you.

#8 - Timing is vitally important - Take into account the major holidays and any other stress related events that may be occurring in her life. Try not to breakup with her around these times. Be sensitive to her feelings.

#9 - Be prepared for the crying.  Women are very emotional and there will probably be tears.  So if possible have tissue or a handkerchief handy.
