The new Spanish made doll that lets young girls imitate breast-feeding is very controversial. The experts are arguing and mothers are set against each other. Some think that children aren't able to understand about breast-feeding. Yet, some mothers that breast-feed say they have seen their daughters copying them.

But does there really need to be a toy doll to encourage this behavior? That is what I'm wondering. Dolls in general don't leave much to the imagination these days. Dolls already, pee, drink, talk, walk, and cry.

The breast-feeding doll is only available in Spain so far, but it will be sold in the United States next year. In a society that already encourages little girls to grow up too fast, this doll is a questionable asset. Of course, there isn't anything wrong with breast-feeding, but that is for a grown woman to be concerned with, not little girls. At least it needn't be promoted with a special doll.

Part of the controversy centers around whether or not this is sexualizing little girls. Breast-feeding isn't sexual, but how far into reality does a little girl need to go when playing. I say, give me a break, give it a rest, and put on the brakes.

How does this doll work? The little girl wears a halter top that has the flowers in place of nipples. A sensor reacts with sucking noises, when the doll is close enough to the flowers. Is it wise to inspire girls to be that animated about having children at an early age? I think it has the potential to speed up a child's thinking into an adult mode, where she is feeling more like an adult than a child.

There are so many things in this world nowadays that have taken away childhood, shortened it, robbed the innocence, and basically massacred what was once a happy abode of the child's own imagination. Why can't people let children be children?
