Breckenridge: More Than Just Great Skiing!

What To Do on Your Rest Days
Even the most avid skiers need a day off the slopes once in a while to let their bodies recover from the physical exertion of skiing. So Breckenridge has become more than just a place to ski; it is a town that truly caters to vacationers. It has great shopping, spas, food, beer, clubs, and more, all located near fantastic Breckenridge Colorado lodging, to keep you entertained on your rest days.
The best way to truly rest sore muscles and prepare for the next big day on the slopes is to get a massage. You can choose from a number of spas not only for a massage, but for any number of treatments, including facials, body treatments, manicures, pedicures, and finishing touches. You can also enjoy giving the body a relaxing workout with yoga, Pilates, kung fu, Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Stopping in anywhere like The Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge, Blue Sage Spa, Oasis 9600 Movement and Wellness center, Sacred Tree, A Mountain Sanctuary Day Spa, Alpine Spa and Salon, and Breckenridge Acupuncture will let you relax both the body and mind. Who couldn't use a nice massage, or even getting a bit of a workout to stretch you out? Don't kid yourself, skiing is a strenuous activity because you work the body in ways you may not be used to, and you could very well need to give the body a day off in order to perform your best during the rest of your ski vacation.
However, if the spa isn't what you are into, there's still plenty for you to do. Breckenridge has a multitude of activities besides visiting spas and skiing. There are movie theaters, arcades, art galleries, and no shortage of stores. You can shop for clothes, souvenirs, jewelry or stop in at Hamlet's Bookshoppe to find a good book for those evenings when you just want to curl up on the couch under a blanket. The shops and art galleries are centrally located all along Main Street, so you can spend a whole day walking from one end of town to the other, stopping in various shops along the way. Or you can take a horse-drawn carriage to truly let tired legs rest.
If you are with the kids, you want to keep the vacation interesting. For the days off the slopes, check out the sledding hill in town or take a 15-minute drive south of town to the top of Hoosier Pass for steeper hills without the crowds. You can also rent cross country skis or snowshoes to explore the mountain wilderness in a peaceful, quiet setting. Or rent a pair of ice skates and visit the local skating rink in town. Afterwards, start a snowball fight or build a snow fortress. Taking a day off from skiing doesn't mean you can't keep the family adequately entertained.
Come to Breckenridge for the world-class skiing. But take time to explore everything else that the charming mountain town has to offer!
