I'll give him one more season, he earned it!

Brett Favre is speculated back from retirement …again! Yeah I know it is getting tough to stomach even for me, a big Favre fan, will he return won’t he return, it he doesn’t know. But latest rumor has it unnamed veteran Vikings players have reported Favre is a done deal by the third preseason game, and they won’t take no for a answer.

Maybe it’s just rumors and Favre won’t come back again but if he did, which wouldn’t shock me one bit, I have no doubt the Vikings will be the team to beat in the NFC north. Sure call me crazy but Favre would be put on a good team that will be great with a good quarterback. The players say they want him a he will help there club win, maybe we should listen and hey maybe so should Brett.

So for a second get past the nausea of the Favre retirement drama, by my count he is just shy of the all time retiree record right next o Sugar Ray Leonard, and focus on what the Vikings players are saying. He will help there club win this year! No, of course you can’t build a franchise around him anymore, but Favre is a proven leader and winner. The Jets were 9-7 last season and in case you don’t have your stat cheat sheet in front of you, they were 4-12 in 2007 without Brett. He throw 22 touchdowns,9th in NFL and 3400 yards, 11th in NFL among quarterbacks. And that was with minimal talent around him, Oh Yes I said it!

Last year on the Jets was a fluke, sure Favre has diminished but he was the only playmaker on that offense. Both Laveranues Coles and Jerrico Cotchery are far from elite wide receivers. Don’t get me wrong, both are good players but statistically both have been pretty average over their careers, at best both are number 2 or 3 receivers on your team. Neither have ever blocked down field, and to be honest both could probably be blamed for not going after the ball or being physical and breaking up plays, accounting for some of Favre’s 22 interception thrown last year, however most of them were probably Favre, he has always been known for gunning it into traffic, but he has had way more interceptions 5 other times in his career. But in Minny, Favre wouldn’t throw into the wind in a dome, at least for 8 games of the season. And before you even say it, I know what you’re thinking; Thomas Jones had his best season ever last year, with 1300 yards. He contributed to any Favre success last season. Well I would argue that Mr. Jones numbers fall off this year, or back to normal I should say and not just because he has a rookie quarterback. It is because he had the best quarterback he had ever played in his career leave. Jones received the benefit of all the focus on Favre. Thomas Jones overall in his career has been about average too, just like Cotchery and Coles! And the hardest part was it was only for a year and Favre went into jets camp late so he never really built a rapport with his receivers in New York.

But things will be completely different Minnesota, I guarantee it! Immediately we can stop watching Adrian Peterson stop running against 8 men in the box! And think of those little shuttle passes Favre likes to throw, Peterson will love that! And Bernard Berrian had 20 yards per catch last seasonand that was with Tarvaris Jackson and Gus Frerotte at quarterback. Visanthe Shiancoe also proved to be a valuable tight end with 14 yards per catch, a position Favre can throw too. By the way just in case you were wondering, Coles and Cotchery had 12 yards per catch each last year.

And now here is the most important change with the Vikings, Favre will play in a weaker division. Green Bay won 6 games and is still a very young team and Detroit is just trying to end the worst losing drought ever for their franchise. The Bears would be the toughest competition in the NFC north, and Brett Favre puts you in a better position to do that. Last year Favre had to worry about the Patiots and the re-emerging Dolphins.

Favre is all gain for the Vikings and the veterans know it, they want a championship and Favre, whom has won two before could be your best option to win one this year! there best options aren't Tarvaris jackson and Sage Rosenfels. Rosenfels was plagued by fumbles and interceptions in Houston last year and has really never been The Quarterback for any team, he is what he is a very solid back up! The same can really be said for Jackson, whom rushes more than the other quarterbacks but has the fumbles lost to show for it.

I know by now you’re losing your lunch with the Brett Favre saga, but we can take his whoa as me act, at least for one more season, so come back Brett and then the Cheese heads will be the only ones puking!
