Brian K Kopp says the Internet is a growing evolving beast

Have you ever thought that the Internet is a living organism? Just as you think you know what is going on with the Internet and in particular Internet marketing you find what seems like overnight the ballgame is changed and a new learning curve starts it arc skyward.

Take email marketing; you have been building you list for a long time and try very hard to meet the legislative requirements, do the best to overcome spam filters and not to mention the addressees inability to see individual email because of too many emails to actually look at any individual one unless there is a GREAT subject line

People are jaded with all the options and optins are getting harder and harder to get now. Even if give away a laptop, vacation away and when they do optin it was only because they wanted to spend the weekend in Vegas.

What do I hear you say fellow IM... Internet marketing is going to die because email marketing is on its death bed….OHMYGAWD

Everyone is racing away from email marketing because of the problems associated with otpin, double optin, who knows triple optin, non responsive lists because gmail and the like are used as a repository of unwanted emails from safe lists etc.

Who cares I say…

I am not even going to worry about it.

I hope more and more marketers run and hide to their shelters in blogs etc to get away from email marketing because it is too hard now to get optins while complying with the laws… Go I say Go now.

I am sticking with it but it will not be quite the same…

Yes it will become harder and harder to properly use email marketing but you know this industry has been promoted as the do nothing and make a lot of money industry but that is a fallacy. Just because it becomes difficult to use email marketing does not mean it should be abandoned, because it means the better you are at it the more you are going to set yourself apart from the crowd.

We are starting a new era of email marketing not the end of email marketing and I see it as a good thing. For people to optin to you list you are going have to make sure you are giving them value for their email address and you are going to have to position yourself as someone who does give value and not the opportunistic kind like it would be nice to go to Vegas for the weekend so quickly get a Gmail account like igetafreetripifIgiveyouthisemailaddress@gmail.com. and never look at it again.

I mean the optin page is going have to sell (what is the value in it for them to sign up to this list), so you have two sales pages one to sell the sign up and the next for the product sales page. Oh yes that is more work to make it work, but it will be worth it.
