Broccoli And Cheese
64Broccoli, Violet Queen and Cauliflower
This is what we use
Broccoli Is Green Cauliflower
The first time I heard of Broccoli was when I was about 12 years old and watching News of The World on DD. It was the only channel we got and was produced by a company called NDTV.
The person in the news was George Bush Sr. He was refusing to meet a group of Broccoli Farmers as he said he hated the vegetable.
That got me wondering about what Broccoli was. I asked my Mom and she answered, "Broccoli is green Cauliflower."
That statement is what always comes to my mind when I see it on the super market shelves now. It is still an exotic vegetable for us Indians and not so easy to come by.
Initially my husband had a few reservations about eating it, but as I kept giving him stranger and more unusual vegetables, he was happy to eat Broccoli.
And once I even found a Violet Queen which for your information is not Broccoli but a variety of Cauliflower. I found that hard to believe but its true.
Given here is one of the simplest dishes you can make with Broccoli and Cheese.

Use Fresh Cheese
Here How To Cook It
Ingredients you will need
One head of Broccoli,
Handful of Corriander Leaves,
4 cloves of Garlic,
An inch piece of Ginger,
1 small onion,
one teaspoon lemon juice,
Fresh cheese ,
Salt and pepper to taste.
Method to make it
Take a head of Broccoli and wash it well. Chop the Broccoli into bite sized pieces and keep it aside.
Put a handful of corriander leaves, 4 cloves of garlic, an inch piece of ginger, one small onion and some lemon juice into the blender and add water to make a fine paste.
Add this paste to the chopped Broccoli in a bowl and place it in the fridge. Let the marinade seep in for about half an hour.
Then put the Broccoli in a baking dish, and add grated cheese on top. Now place it in the oven till the cheese melts.
Don't let it over cook or the crunchiness will go. Serve.

When is dinner? did you say ? yummm sounds wonderful. I also have found (organic) broccoli slaw and it is so very good...I will try this recipe for sure...Thanks.:O) Hugs
Hope that both of you enjoy it.
Candie the baking does take the raw taste out, but its still crunchy.
G-Ma let me know how you liked it. And thanks for the fan mail.
I always wondered why kids in comic books hated broccoli - I love it, especially in a bake!
Guess its more of a cliche than the truth.
Why did I come here again? I knew I was hungry, yet here I am.. Cashmere, can you work on "Smell a hub" for me? I don't mind the crunch, but sometimes you get a little piece of the broccoli stuck between your front teeth, and no one tells you, then you smile... and then you get the "Ewwwww" looks and someone kindly hands you a toothpick tho you don't know why till you look in the mirror..
That sounds yummy. I just ate brocolli and cheese soup a few weeks ago...but this sounds good. Will try the recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Candie welcome back. Looks like you needed a toothpick once!
Thanks for stopping by ripplemaker. Hope you enjoy it.
Broccoli is one of those vegetables you hate as a kid but love as an adult. This looks like a great way to prepare it.
Hope you like it Brian
I'm so glad you wrote this hub, because I've never understood why so many people hate broccoli. It's on of my favourite vegetables, honestly! There are plenty of it where I live so I'm happy. Btw, GB Sr. sounds like a campaign statement to me. Brian is right, that is, if people who hated it in their childhood are ever willing to taste it again as an adult. :) Rated it up.
Thanks Haunty.

I love it cooked (steamed) a little and lots of cheese sauce.. Will eat it with ranch dip or blue cheese if raw, but prefer it cooked.. now I'm hungry for a cheese burger. Thanks!! :)
