Broken eyeglass arms
69A tip for people who wear glasses
I'm one of those people who wears glasses. I know theres all kind of corrective procedures out there like laser surgery and all, but the thing is, I like my glasses. They have saved my eyes more times than I can remember, from riding bikes to working on things. For instance, I was replacing a starter motor the other day on an old truck and a 1/2 lb bolt fell squarely on my eye from about 2 feet up, it scratched the glass lens but it saved my eye. They also protect your eyes from stinging rain and dust. I'm rough on a pair of glasses, and I always buy two pair, one for working and one for dress. Being near sighted I'm always taking them off and tossing them aside while trying to see something up close. I accidently rolled over on my latest pair of work glasses the other day and broke one of the arms off at the joint, there went an 120 dollar set of frames. Then it dawned on me why not get a cheap pair of reading glasses and take the arms off. I went to the local dollar store and found a good pair of reading glasses that matched my frames and had the same style of connecting joint for 5 bucks and switched the arms off. I had to file the tang with a file as it was a little thick, took about 10 min and I had a dirt cheap repair job that looked just as good as the original pair, and it looks a whole lot better than taping them together.
