Supernatural Experience
When I was about 9 years old, my family had purchased a home in Arizona it was a brick home built in 1973 and everyone was excited about moving into the house. As mom designated bedrooms to each one of us , I ended up with the room down a very long hallway and a door that opened up to the open patio in the backyard. Although it appeared to be far away from the rest of my siblings there was an uneasy feeling in the room, and night after night I would wake up from a deep sleep and I could see something standing over my bed. I would pull the blankets over my head and pray that it would go away as I was the oldest and always had to sent an example for my sisters. One night as it was storming outside I felt something yanking at my blanket, I pulled up and it pulled back as I opened my eyes a ghostly female figure was standing at the end of the bed,I could see her graying hair, which had been pulled back into a tight bun and her wrinkled and tattered shirt that she was wearing. I jumped out of my bed and the dresser went sliding across the bedroom door, I screamed and ran to the door that went out to the open patio in the backyard as I looked back I could see her standing in the doorway looking at me. As the rain was pouring down and I ran frantically through the puddles my heart was racing I approached the living room door on the other side of the house where my parents had been quietly sitting and watching TV , when they saw me they were beside themselves and asked me what in the sam hell had I been doing out in the rain. I told them that there was a lady in the bedroom and she pushed the dresser and I could not get out of the room. My father scolded me and told me to get back to bed, as there wasn't anything in that room. I absolutely refused to sleep in there and told them I wanted to share rooms as that bedroom had something in it . He told me that I had been watching to many movies and needed to get my ass to bed. I knew it wasn't from watching TV and absolutely refused to go back into that room. Needless to say after getting a spanking and kicking and screaming, I slept with my younger sister and my parents moved into that room two days later and decided that the punishment for us would be to share rooms, of course sharing a room to me was not a punishment it was a safety issue and hanging out with my younger sister at that time was not a big deal. We all shared rooms for the next nine years and my parents room was converted into a guest room. There had been many times over that nine years where I saw my parents sleep in the living room , but would never discuss why. I knew why as what I had encountered was a "Ghost." After I was eighteen they sold that house and it has been sold 12 times since then, interesting isn't it? What I do know about that home is that an elderly woman died in that home and roomer has it , what I had seen as a small child was the elderly lady that lived there.

Thank you for writing. This is an interesting subject. I’ve never seen a ghost and don’t want to either.
I do know from the Word of God that we are surrounded by a spirit world, the angels of God and the angels of the devil. We know that there is a spiritual war going on all around us. Dan 10 would be one of many places to read about this.
What I know is that if I live for Jesus Christ, I have no need to be concerned about ghost.

Thanks to both of you and I am definitely afraid of the federal reserve, look at the economy. I believe Eddie it was a demon and I will never forget it , but God got me through it.:) The house is still standing and I believe I will never want to cross that path or into that house again.:)
If that house still exists then there is a program on TV I think it's called Ghost Hunters and they can investigate paranormal behaviour. It must have been one helluva experience. I get nightmares just watching movies like Evil Dead can't imagine a real encounter. Glad you made it through safely.
I have chill bumps! It's not exactly like you can call the police on a ghost. What can they do, arrest them? I wonder if some the later homeowners experienced you ghost as well.
I have that feeling as it has been sold to many times and when I drove by it a few years ago it gave me the eebie jeebies. :( I am a grown woman and I will never ever forget it, even when I was a young adult I found myself having nightmares over it, it was terrible. I am glad that now I was able to write about it. ::::::)

ripplemaker, It was a very frightening experience and I honestly have dealt with it a couple of times after that, but I just overcome it with faith.:)
AEvans, yes when people laugh or scorn the mysterious and supernatural I tend to back away as I had several events that happened to me over my formative years, one of which is detailed in the hub

trish1048: My mom is almost 70 and after I wrote this article she finally admitted that some unusual occurrences happened in there, she said she was glad to have moved out of that house. As for my dad he is gone now but he never did discussit to much. :)

It is fascinating but spooky at the same time, I know things roam the earth but good grief, do they have to be so malacious and frightening. It is like they throw temper tantrums. :) Why is it we are so afraid of something that is not even real, I think we are driven by the fear.:)
Have you ever seen the movie "The Others"? The end gives you a whole different perspective on hauntings.
I have seen the Others and it was very strange, unusual and certainly did give me a different perspective on ghosts. :)

Well J, so glad to have discovered this gem, thanks to your nod in the forum. Took me a bit to find it. Boo! Halloween is coming and my mind is racing to beat it with a good one or two hubs. I believe, I have seen, and heard.
I always enjoy reading a good ghost story, and this was a good one.
I worked in a video shop when I was younger, and after closing up and checking everything was OK I went out back to cash up, etc. when I went back out front to leave there were several big stacks of videos piled up like towers throughout the shop. I couldn't be sure it was the work of a ghost, it's possible that I hadn't noticed them previously, but unlikely, I got out of there pretty sharpish. =) Great hub, thanks for sharing.

Mrvoodoo: I believe it could have been a ghost, there isn't anyway possible you could overlook something that large. Think about the building the video shop was in you just never ever know. I agree I would have ran like the dickens a ghost can be nice or naughty and yours you will never ever know. If you felt it in your gut and it gave you an uneasy feeling it was in my eyes definitely a ghost. :)

I'm not afraid of any ghost. If they exist they are always around anyway. Now the Guys at the FEDERAL RESERVE SCARE ME. Those are some real fiends and Ghouls.
