Buckhead is growing up Atlanta Buckhead Born again
57Buckhead It is time it grew up Yes Atlanta
Buckhead was a drinking area between the city and the burbs. Yes it is located basically on Peachtree Street a few miles from downtown Atlanta.
Drinking and partying to the wee hours all the time but even as in life it is missing what is going on. Buckhead has always missed the big picture.
(As a noun or adjective, Atlantan refers to persons or things pertaining the city of Atlanta, Georgia)
As an Atlantan I always enjoyed drinking with friends I have only known at the local bars on a Saturday afternoon. The locals breeze in and out over a two to five hour time frame as they get out and have lunch and a few more drinks to get their kidneys in gear.
The old stopping grounds in the most part are gone and in a year or so new fancy modern enticing establishments. Nice heavy glass swinging doors and marble floors. Parking attendants and Valet parking will greet the locals as we once again return to our watering holes.
It will be almost like a huge water hose washed all the dirt off the area called Buckhead and out grew a modern safe hub of energy where as we Atlantans will be sitting on our leather bar stools and watching the new visitors as they invade our grazing spots. We will be sitting in small groups as if we had been gone on a business trip and finally have gotten back together.
The laughing and joking will continue in those fancy buildings.
Many years ago I rarely visited some of the nicer restaurants for a couple of drinks and lunch mainly because I wasn't dressed up enough. I came to the conclusion that the dress code wasn't the issue. The issue was in my brain. I became Saturday afternoon regular at Capital Grill. I laughed and joked to the employees and even though I hadn't seen them in a few weeks or months we'd catch up then I eat drink and go on my way.
Buckhead is in the pregnancy stage and soon will be born as a vibrant high energy well to do area between downtown Atlanta and the burbs.
Six months ago I caught myself sitting at a bar at the Rio Grand like a teenager waiting for a date to arrive. I realized that the guys had scattered and it would be best for me to save my dignity and wait for Buckhead to grow up.
It is going to be great. I miss my bar friends since the clubs and restaurants closed everyone I used to see have scattered. The food will be more expensive and so will teh drinks but that will be fine. Soon I will be sitting in a much nicer chair or stool drinking my same old drink eating something close to what i call a burger and laughing and joking with my good friends.
Let's go Buckhead get on with the growing up we Atlantans are excited to experience it all once again.
