SO WHAT if budget airlines start flying the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur (KL) route

Some business travellers will still stick to Singapore Airlines (SIA).

SIA customers who spoke to my paper yesterday said reliability and safety are some reasons why they would not consider flying on a low-cost carrier.

But it's a different story for those going on leisure trips to the Malaysian capital though - they are only too happy to fly budget.

They are now mainly concerned about how easy it would be to get the tickets. They now avoid paying the over S$400 two-way fare on SIA and Malaysia Airlines by either driving or enduring a five-hour bus ride there. It costs about S$100 for a return ticket to KL on a luxury coach.

When flying with SIA, you can ensure that everything is in working order and there will be fewer disruptions of flights.

It's not just about the service on board, it's everything put together.

Still, when it comes to holidays, budget carriers are viewed more favourably.

Come Feb 1, three low-cost carriers - Jetstar Asia and Tiger Airways and AirAsia

They will operate a total of four flights a day.

Waiting for buses at the Puduraya bus station in KL are tiring and the service are poor there. Sometimes, you are given a seat number but you can't get that seat, and sometimes you pay different amounts to take the same bus.

Even though the fares offered by budget carriers are tempting, but it takes about 35 minutes, getting to Changi Airport, and then travelling from the KL airport to the city.

Coaches are more convenient, it drop off a mere five-minute walk to any hotel."
