Easy Hamburger Pizza Loaf, Feed Your Family For Under Ten Dollars
62Ten-Dollar Dad’s Hamburger Pizza Loaf with Fresh Garden Salad
This Hamburger Pizza Loaf is an easy recipe that you can adjust to your family's tastes. It is easy and the total cost to feed a family of four will be under $10.00. Clean up is minimal.
Ingredients
1 pound of hamburger
2 packets of pizza dough mix
1 can pizza sauce
1 pound of low fat mozzarella cheese
Let's Get Started
1.) Brown hamburger in skillet and crumble. (I also like to rinse it under running water to help eliminate as much fat as possible. The kids never notice the difference in flavor and as for the fat – every little bit helps when you are watching your weight.)
2.) Prepare pizza dough mix according to instructions on packet. Split dough into three parts.
3.) Grease the bottom and sides of a bread loaf pan
4.) Take two parts of the pizza crust dough and press into the bottom and sides of the pan. The dough can overlap the top to keep it from being pulled into the pan. Use flour on your hands to keep the dough from sticking.
5.) Once you have the dough spread into the pan add ½ of the crumbled hamburger to the bottom of the pan. Spoon an even layer of pizza sauce over the meat and then sprinkle ½ of the cheese over the sauce. Repeat for a second layer of meat, sauce and cheese.
6.) Flatten the remaining dough and then use it to cover the top of the pan. Pinch the top crust and side crusts together to seal.
7.) Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 20 minutes. The crust will be brown. Remove and let stand for five minutes before serving. If you are serving young children you may want to wait ten minutes as the cheese could still be hot and stringy - cheese burns on the chin are never fun. To serve, slice into 1 inch thick slices. Remove from pan with a spatula.
Serve this with Ten-Dollar Dad’s fresh garden salad for a meal that will feed your family for under $10.00. Once you try this easy recipe you may want to adjust it to your family’s tastes. Add pepperoni, mushrooms, anchovies, etc. You might even want to try it with broccoli florets, sliced ham and cheddar cheese.
This is an easy to make recipe that I’m sure you and your family will enjoy.
