Membership sites are hot on the internet right now.  Many web surfers are willing to pay to find information of their interest, all categorized into one place. If you want to earn money on the internet, creating a membership site is one of the best options. With a membership site, you can do all the work once, and then charge members month by month to view your content. If you want, you can also add new content every month, and then your members will have an incentive to come back every time. If you are interested in creating a membership site, here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Find the topic of your membership site: It is best if you work with a topic you have a passion for, be it sports cars, mini golf, or computer software, whatever topic you have interest in is usually best. If you work with a topic you really don’t care for, it will be harder for you to keep coming up with new content, and won’t be as fun. Once you have found a topic, you can start deciding on a name for your site.

2. Build the site: Buy some webhosting and a domain name for your membership site. These usually can be found quite inexpensively. Domain names can be registered for about $10. I like to use the service NameCheap.com. Hosting is a bit more expensive, but you can get a good webhost for about $60 a year. Next, you will want to find some membership site software to install on the hosting server. This will depend on what type of membership site you are starting. You can do a Google search and find several of them. Sometimes the webhost will actually have membership site software preinstalled.

3. Get traffic: The greatest membership site won’t earn a single penny without any members. This is one of the most important parts. So, it’s time to start finding visitors. There are many ways to do this. You can promote your membership sites by talking to people within your target audience: get involved in forums, talk in online groups and leave comments on other blogs that are related to your topic. Leave a link back to your site whenever you do any of these.
