Building and Mainaining Customer Relationships
56Sending Thank You Cards Puts You Ahead of the Pack
Did you realize that in today's world the top three motivators from an employee's perspective are appreciation, feeling a part of things and having an understanding attitude? Notice what is number one...appreciation.
Showing appreciation to people you do business with should be no different. I am confident saying when someone does business with someone else and then that person takes the time to write a personal thank you card and mail it to the person they did business with, that small gesture is sure to go a long way. Maintaining customer relationships is crucial to any business!
In today's society with all the computer and smart phone technology that everyone uses, the personal touch seems to have been pushed by the wayside. It's that personal touch that is going to separate the average business person from the exceptional business person who takes the time to appreciate those they conduct their business with.
A quick handwritten thank you note or card just to express appreciation for choosing your business will go far with the person that purchased a product or service from you. The next time they need that product or service again, chances are in your favor they will be a returning customer.
Greeting cards sent through the mail are the least intrusive and are a nice way to communicate with business associates. It's a known fact that 99% of personal greeting cards get opened by their recipient. When you compare this to only 25% of emails getting read, I personally prefer the statistics of mailing a card any day.
So next time you are trying to come up with an original idea to show your customers/clients that you care and value their business, sometimes the best ideas are also the easiest. The power of sending an unexpected thank you card can do wonders for you AND your business!

This is something I need to start doing in my business. Intellectually I know that it really helps put that positive thought towards my business - just need to find the time to make it happen! Thanks for the reminder.
