Getting Links To Optimize Your Websites

If you want to create an online business you need for your websites to be seen by potential customers. To do this you need to properly optimize your websites for the major search engines so you get high rankings for their main keywords. These higher rankings will lead to more website traffic, and hopefully more sales or leads.

Building links to your website is the best way to get indexed by search engines and get high rankings in them. When you get incoming links to your website you won't have to submit your site to the search engines to get indexed by them. The search engine spiders will follow the links you get from other websites to crawl your site and likely index it. In fact, when you get some incoming website links your site may get indexed in as little as a few days as opposed to the months it can take to get indexed when you submit to the major search engines. Once you get indexed you'll need to continue building links to your website for higher search engine rankings.

There are a few ways to go about building links to your website. You can buy links, exchange links, or get one way links.

Buying And Exchanging Links

When your trying to succeed at building links to your websites there are sites that you can buy links from. The problem is that the major search engines can tell when a link has been bought and won't give as much credit for it. In fact, if you overdo this practice your links may not very much credit at all and your rankings will suffer. Of course if you buy a link from a high traffic site you may get traffic from people clicking ion that link. If you do buy links, make sure that you get other kinds of links as well.

One popular way to build links to your website is to exchange links with other websites. There are many link exchange programs on the internet where you can trade links with other websites. Exchanged links don't get the credit they once did from the major search engines, but you won't probably have to pay for them and they still may help your websites get higher rankings.

Building One Way Links to Your Website

The best way to go about building links to your website is to get one-way links. These are links from other sites that don't have a link from your site. Getting one way links to your site makes it appear more authoritative to the major search engines. It's even better if you get one way links from websites with a high PageRank. The search engines will give these one way links much more credit than links that are bought or exchanges and you'll get higher rankings in their search results.

For success at building links to your website with one way links you should submit articles to article directories. This is the best way to get one way links because most of the top article directories have a high PageRank so the links you get from them will get a lot credit from Google and Yahoo. You simply need to write a unique and informative article and submit it to the top directories. The majority of the article directories allow you to add backlinks in the resource box they provide and some even allow you to put links in the body of your article. Every article directory is different, so make sure to check their submission guidelines before you add your articles to them. You can also use article submission software to sublit to many article directories at once.

Hubpages and Squidoo both offer great opportunities for building links to your website. They both allow you to publish web pages for free and add links to your content. Hubpages and Squidoo both have high PageRank so the links you build from them will get a lot of credit from the search engines.

Posting and comenting on blogs is also great for building links to your website. Many blogs allow links in their comments and you can find some that will allow you to post articles or article snippets. Unfortunately, most blogs have a 'no follow' tag so a search engines spiders won't follow the link to your site. Of course the links themselves can have value if visitors click on them. If you search around you can find some blogs that don't have a "no follow" tag.

When you succeed at building one way links to your website, you'll certainly see higher search engine rankings and an explosion of traffic.
