Building a Google Adsense Empire

You can build your own Google Adsense Empire very easily, pretty much the same as what you do on HubPages and be in full control. Firstly you'll need to get a 3rd party web host. I use 1&1 but you can find free web hosting if you're just starting out though. Free web hosting may not provide you with the server space and bandwidth required as you build your Google Adsense Empire but you can easily switch to a better service when you are ready. Alternatively you could download Apache Web Server software to your own PC at no cost and use your own pc as a web server, not recommended for maintenance and security if you're new to it plus it's more convenient to use a 3rd party host for what you can get it for.

So now you got your web hosting setup you'll need an html editor to start building your website. I use MS FrontPage but there are other applications and again you can get free ones. Check with your web hosting company as a lot of these provide a site builder application. Start to design your site and think about creating the content. Most site builder applications come with templates or you can create your own or even search online for free web templates. The idea is to get good content for your site with content rich keywords. Though don't build your site around high paying keywords as the competition is too high. If you write good articles here you'll have no trouble creating your own information website. Leave space for Ad blocks. Make sure to add relevant meta tags to your code, your web host may have a meta tag builder but if not here's a few you could include, not all meta tags are used now by major search engines but you can out them in for smaller ones - you won't get penalised for having tags in that major search engines don't use;

<meta name="description" content="Insert your description here">

<meta name="keywords" content="Insert your keywords here">

<meta name="rating" content="general">

<meta name="distribution" content="global">

<meta name="robots" content="index, follow">

<meta name="revisit-after" content="30 days">

Now you're happy with your content you'll want to start putting adverts in the spaces. Try positioning your ads in different places on different pages you create and see which perform the best when up and running. I'll assume you have a Google Adsense account already, there are many other ad network programs but we'll stick with Google for now.

Next you'll want to get your website uploaded. You'll need an FTP client to do this. If you're using your web hosting site builder you'll just need to publish your site. MS FrontPage comes with a built in FTP client but if you don't have one you can use Smart FTP for free - I use this anyway. You can find the links and other useful tools on one of my other HubPages. Upload your site and you're nearly there.

To get your site indexed fast you'll need to do a couple of things. Do a Google Search for forums on the subject of your site then make a comment and leave a link. If the forum is at the top of search engine results you can be sure it's being indexed well by search engines. Also write a relevant article on HubPages and link to your site. Don't link to websites that does not have a similar subject to yours, Major Search Engines will penalise you for this.

Create a sitemap.xml - creating a website sitemap will assist users in navigating round your site and also when a search engine robot hits your sitemap page it will index all URL's listed.

Optional: Create a robots.txt - create a robots.txt to allow robots to instruct search engine robots where to index your site - this should include the line ‘sitemap: http://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml', you can also tell the robot where not to index if you want to keep pages private by using ‘Disallow: /yourprivatefolder'. This is optional as not adding a robots.txt file the robots will automatically follow all URL's whilst your site is being indexed.

That's it in a nutshell, create more websites and follow the examples above. Vary your templates and headers if you're using them. Keep on creating websites, keep checking which ones are doing best and change others to optimise to your best performing site. Think I've covered most general things to do - please feel free to add any other useful tips in the comments.
