Treat It Like A Subject Line
The subject line in your bulk email should be just that, a subject line. It should not contain too much information to confuse the reader. It should have enough meat on it to give the reader information about the email. Do not explain too much in your subject line. That is what the body of your email is for. Your subject line should be clear, to the point and appealing enough to make the reader “want to know more”.
Provide Enough Information
At the risk of making your subject line too wordy, do not compromise on its purpose in your bulk email. A subject line is best when it briefly explains to the readers what they should expect when they open the message. It should tell the reader what the message is about. When you are trying to sell a product, maybe your subject line can contain exactly what the product is and why the viewer should buy it from you. For example, “LAST DAY FOR A 20% DISCOUNT ON TITAN WATCHES”, can be effective. Of course, all subject lines don’t have to be so short. As long as they are clear and bring the message across to the reader they have performed their job.
Grab Attention, But Not At Any Cost
A subject line should be worded so that it grabs the attention of the reader. The relevance of the subject line to the email is very important. Your bulk email has to compete with tons of other messages in the inbox of any reader. An effective subject line helps both you and the reader of your bulk email. A subject line which reads as, “ACT NOW to earn $2000 a day”, will definitely get your reader curious. Anyone would want to know how they can earn $2000 a day. However, please be careful not to lead your reader astray. Do not provide false information in your subject line just so that your reader will be tempted to read your bulk email. It reflects poorly on you and makes reader lose interest, which definitely defeats your purpose.
Test Your Results
The best way to get your subject line to work for you is to keep testing. This is why tracking the bulk email that you send to your audience is very important. By tracking which emails are getting good responses and open rates, you can determine which subject lines are working. It is all a matter of finding the ones that work best for you.
It is important to keep the subject line in your bulk email short, to the point and interesting enough for the reader to open your message. It is also essential to word subject lines that spam filters look kindly upon.
