Get More From Your Treadmill Workout By Followling this Advice

I am not able to sit here and tell you that running on a treadmill or outside does you no good. In fact it is great for your cardiovascular system and you can really build your endurance by running several miles.

You just will not burn any fat! I spent years running 6.5-7.5 for 45 minutes on a treadmill and it did nothing for my fat loss goals at times. I was just burning a lot of carbohydrates. When you run your body gets energy from the most readily available source and carbs is the best.

If you want to burn fat you need to walk on an incline. You may have to search out a gym where they have treadmills that can go past a 12% incline but its worth it. Walking 2.0 MPH on an 18-25% incline is better than running 8.0 for an hour. You are burning calories no matter what but its the kind of calories that matter.

The greater the incline angle on the treadmill the more muscle activity there is and the greater the body motion and more exertion will be.This not only increases your calorie expenditure but also tones the muscles in your butt and thighs because it demands more a lot more from your legs (quads and hamstrings). You get to burn pure fat calories and strengh train as well. Its a win win. Its good to run from time to time but if you want to loose weight you are wasting your time.

This is how I found out about it. I am a big runner and used to run for 45 minutes almost everyday. I was regular about it. I weighed 225 lbs and wanted to get down to 195 lbs. I ran and ran and the results were minimal.

I then proceeded to join Body Renew and was told that walking on a high include is better than running on even ground. I thought it was baloney but I tried it. I couldn't move the next day. I started off walking at 1.5 at an 18% incline. It was hard. I did it everyday and the pounds came right off. I now do 45 minutes at 25% and when I do that on a consistance basis I can loose weight easily.

Get your Ipod set up with a decent pair of headphones and set that incline as high as you can do. It will be hard at first but you will see the benefits after just a week. Its the best type of fat burning excerise there is.
