Treatments:
If the burns are minor, soak the burned area in cool saline solution (55 degree F) (12.8 degree C) or apply a cool compress. Next apply a mild antiseptic solution or natural disinfectant like tea tree oil to cleanse it and give pain reliever if needed. Don't cover the burned area, so the wound can dry and heal faster, but make sure that no bacteria will come in contact to it. Administer tetanus prophylaxis, as ordered, and returning for a wound check in 2 days.
One of the best natural treatments that can make the burned area heal fast and safely is Extra Virgin Olive oil, Aloe Vera gelly and always disinfect it using a mild cleanser with Tea Tree oil. The natural treatment listed above also has a natural tissue regenerating agent. A patient should also take a natural antibiotic like Bee Propolis, to prevent infection and to strengthen the immune system.
Note: In moderate and major burns, immediately assess the patient's airway, breathing, and circulation (ABC). Be especially alert for signs of smoke inhalation and pulmonary damage: singed nasal hairs, mucosal burns, voice changes, coughing, wheezing, soot in the mouth or nose, and darkened sputum. As ordered, assist with endotracheal intubation and give 100% oxygen.
