Bushwacker has definitely come a long way since the days of offering their first custom fender flare series for the Ford Bronco. Over the past 40 years, Bushwacker has easily blossomed to one of the top, leading manufacturer of fender flares and truck accessories on the market.

There are a few questions that new Bushwacker customers tend to have, so it’s my goal to reveal the answers to the Top 7 frequently asked questions below.

  1. How difficult is the installation? – You should be able to handle the entire installation process yourself. Bushwacker provides all of the hardware and instructions you need. They have even designed their fender flares to use factory holes where available. If there aren’t any factory holes available, then you can easily install the flares with the provided self-tapping screws.
  2. What is the fender flare made of? – Bushwacker has chosen to use Dura-Flex ABS plastic, which is an exclusive product to Bushwacker. This material offers a high impact, low temperature thermoplastic which bends. This allows you to get plenty of flexibility, but with a very rigid design that maintains its shape.
  3. Will the flares fit if I have running boards? – If your running boards attach to the wheel well opening with a flat plate, then in most cases it’ll fit just fine.
  4. What if I have body side molding, will flares fit? – You will probably want to cut the molding where it intersects with Bushwacker’s fender flare to insure proper fitting with no gapping.
  5. How do Bushwacker fender flares mount? - With each fender flare the installation is a little different. It depends on the make and model of your vehicle, since they are make/model specific. That’s the reason why Bushwacker includes a very detailed list of instructions for installation.
  6. Do I have to cut sheet metal to install the Bushwacker Cut-Out flares? – All of Bushwacker Cut-Out flares do require you to remove some sheet metal for installation. It’s probably best to make sure you read the installation instructions before purchasing to make sure you are fully prepared for what is required to install the flares..
  7. Do I have to use the edge trim? Is it paintable? – The edge trim that Bushwacker provides is to make sure the flares fit snugly up against the vehicle body to minimize gapping, but it isn’t recommended that you paint the edge trim.
